About the Position
SARS is establishing a new Azure Infrastructure Security capability and is seeking Senior Specialist: IT Security Engineer (Azure Infrastructure) to secure and support Azure-based infrastructure platforms that host critical SARS systems and services.
The role focuses on ensuring that Azure infrastructure is designed, configured, and operated securely in line with SARS policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. This includes securing Azure networking, compute, storage, identity integration, and hybrid connectivity.
As a new role within SARS, the incumbents will contribute to defining and embedding cloud infrastructure security standards, patterns, and operational practices, while working closely with infrastructure and technology teams to ensure secure and resilient cloud platforms.
Job Purpose
To be responsible for identify shortcomings in SARS processes, gaps in systems that allow fraud, trends of activities where SARS is defrauded, and to assist in designing controls and solutions to mitigate identified risks and to reports on suspicious and unauthorized activities on the SARS IT Systems
Education and Experience
Minimum Qualification & Experience Required
Bachelor's Degree / Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) in Information Security AND 8-10 years' experience in an Information Security Operations, of which 3-4 years at operational specialist level

Senior Certificate (NQF 4) AND IT Qualification (s) / Certification (s) Information Security, and 8-10 years’ experience in an Information Security Operations, AND additional requirements specified in Min Functional requirements, where applicable.

Minimum Functional Requirements

SARS is looking for a highly skilled and experienced, results driven, senior specialist SAP Basis individual with sound judgement and strong business acumen who will contribute towards our higher purpose and service delivery. S/he will need to be an innovative individual, with deep experience in the emerging technologies and a strong future orientation. The individual must be able to design systems landscape, install, configure, upgrade, and troubleshoot SAP systems according to specifications and business requirements. Help add value to the team and organisation through effective and proactive contribution to the day-to-day supporting activities. Broad understanding of all facets of Information Technology including SDLC. Understanding of diverse set of technologies including Unix/Linux operating system (e.g. RedHat) knowledge, SAP HANA and Sybase database administration, Single Sign On, Fiori, SAP BTP and other Cloud solutions (e.g. SuccessFactors, ARIBA). Knowledge of Infrastructure Cloud Platforms like MS Azure, AWS, Google will be an advantage.
Job Purpose
