About the Position 

SARS is looking for a goal driven IT support engineer, a professional with a proven record in supporting multiple Windows based systems, including Ms - Office, O365, Copilot and Azure administration. Some of these systems are provided by external software vendors and some may be internally developed systems. The organization is in search of a well-organized and solutions driven support engineer, to keep these integrated systems available & performant. He/she should have a good understanding of the technical & functional support processes, as well as incident, problem, change and release management processes.

To provide expert first and second line support for up to three integrated bespoke applications throughout their lifecycle, ensuring high availability and performance of Windows-based systems—including Ms Windows 11, O365, Copilot, Azure administration, SAS, Branch and Scanning Applications .The role involves supporting both internally developed and externally provided systems, applying advanced technical and functional support processes, and managing incidents, problems, changes, and releases. The Solutions Support Engineer will collaborate with IT User Support to test, operate, and continuously improve IT services, proactively resolve recurring issues, and maintain comprehensive configuration and knowledge management to optimize service delivery in line with SARS strategy.

 

Job Purpose

To perform first line support on one up to three integrated bespoke applications throughout its life cycle by performing complex integrated support, helps in testing, operating and improving IT services within IT User Support.

 

Education and Experience

Minimum Qualification & Experience Required

National Diploma / Advanced Certificate (NQF 6) in Information Technology AND 2-3 years' experience in SAS, End User Support; Supporting Microsoft products: Ms – Windows 11, O365, Copilot and Azure administration environment, of which 1-2 years is at knowledge worker level

About the Position

An experienced Litigator who thrives in a high paced corporate litigation environment. The Specialist in the Centralised Litigation Unit is proficient in litigation processes in the higher courts with above average drafting, oral and trial advocacy skills. S/he would be detailed orientated with strong analytical understanding of moderately complex financial and tax structures, will have the ability to work both independently and with teams, strive for the SARS ‘higher purpose’ in achieving successful outcomes. Executed effectively this role will add to and improve the Litigation unit within SARS. Exposure to litigation in a tax environment will enhance the candidate’s application.

 

Job Purpose

Centralised Litigation Unit prepares for litigation in the Higher Courts for various disputes, including but not limited to only those focusing on tax liability.  The function involves the entire scope of litigation services, from researching legal and tax principles, analysing the merits of SARS position, drafting various court documents, preparing deponents, and possibly appearing in court. About the Position

An opportunity exists for a strategically focused, analytically strong, and results-driven Business Area Lead. The role requires a strong commitment to advancing the Integrated Investigation strategy in alignment with the mandate of the Criminal Investigations division.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing an Integrated Investigation tactical strategy across multiple practice areas, managing the business area nationally, and ensuring effective practice integration and operational alignment with SARS’ strategic objectives. This will be achieved through close collaboration with key stakeholders, including SAPS, DPCI, NPA, and FIC, within a dynamic and complex operating environment.

The role requires a methodical and logical professional with a strong curiosity for innovative approaches to data analysis and information discovery, with a clear focus on strategic delivery. The incumbent must demonstrate sound working knowledge of the legislative framework governing SARS’ investigative mandate, including the Tax Administration Act, Criminal Procedure Act, POCA, and FICA, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Profile a taxpayer, interpret statement of account, and engage taxpayers with outstanding debt and outstanding returns.
  • Identify cases that require the attention for Account Maintenance.
  • Issue Final Demand if the taxpayer remains non-compliant including manual Final Demand when applicable.
  • Prepare and issue Civil Judgement if the taxpayer remains non-compliant.
  • Prepare and complete Payment Arrangements for requests for all deferment requests (simplified and non-simplified) within the specified turnaround times.
  • Prepare and issue Writ of Execution (no removal and selling of assets without line manager approval).
  • Prepare and complete Compromise request where case will be declined for non-compliance in respect of information and/or Outstanding Returns (No presentation to Committee, approval by Senior Manager).
  • Prepare and complete Suspension of Payment request (simplified) request where case needs not to be presented to a Committee (Below R1 million).
  • Perform basic analysis of bank statements, cash flow statements, assets and liabilities statements including performing a basic of interpretation of financial statements.
  • Prepare and communicate letters of Final Demand, Payment request outcomes, Compromises request outcomes and Suspension of Payment request outcomes as required.
