The Organisation requires the services of a Specialist: Human Capital Management Remuneration in the Human Capital Management department an Independent Contractor for a period of 12 months. This position will be based at Groenkloof National Park, Pretoria. The above position will report directly to the General Manager: Human Capital Management Administration.

Requirements

  • Be in possession of a Diploma (NQF 6) in Human Resources, Organisational Psychology/ Accounting/ Finance/ Commerce.
  • Degree (NQF 7) in Human Resources, Organisational Psychology/ Finance/ Accounting/ Commerce is advantageous.
  • Professional certification is preferred e.g., Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), South African Rewards Association (SARA), Global Remuneration Professional.
  • Proficiency in Excel will be an added advantage.
  • Should have 4 – 5 years in a similar role.
  • Advanced knowledge of South African Tax regulations.
  • Being a registered Tax Practitioner would be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Define a fair, equitable, and competitive total compensation and benefits package that fits and is aligned with our company’s strategy and business goals.
  • Develop a consistent compensation philosophy in line with work culture and organisational objectives.
  • Use various methods and techniques and make data-based decisions on direct financial, indirect financial, and nonfinancial compensations.
  • Differentiate pay systems to invest in the segments of the workforce that contribute the most value.
  • Deploy effective communication strategies and success metrics.
  • Develop and manage the annual salary review process, including coordinating with managers to ensure accurate and timely completion of salary adjustments.
  • Manage the administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, pension, and group life benefits.

  • Conduct ongoing research into emerging trends, issues, and best practices.
  • Provide guidance and support to HR team members and managers regarding compensation and benefits-related matters.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HR, finance, and legal, to ensure effective communication and coordination of compensation and benefits initiatives.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of training programs for managers and employees on compensation and benefits policies and procedures.

SECTION RANGER (RE-ADVERTISEMENT)

 

A vacancy currently exists for one (1) Section Ranger in Table Mountain National Park. The successful candidates will report to the Senior Section Ranger. The successful candidate will have to provide their own accommodation as there is no official accommodation in the park.

Requirements

  • Degree or BTech in Nature Conservation Management or related fields. [(NQF level 7) in Conservation or Natural Resource Management or equivalent.
  • EMI Grade 2 designation (compulsory), or must qualify in stipulated period.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • 3 – 5 years relevant work experience as a Field Ranger or in conservation management in a protected area and 3 years must be in supervision of field ranger teams or supervision of teams in field.
  • Computer literacy with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook Express.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, as well as conflict resolution, project management and liaison skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and working flexible, long and irregular hours and must be physically fit.
  • Must have knowledge of the PFMA act.

The following will be an added advantage:

  • Relevant Post Graduate degree.

 

Responsibilities

Operations Management:

  • Contribute to conservation and development plans, manage biodiversity rehabilitation, oversee fire and environmental management plans, and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Monitor and mitigate degradation impacts on cultural heritage sites and support the development of related management plans.
  • Supervise infrastructure maintenance, manage field data capture and reporting, and oversee administrative tasks like timesheets and logbooks.
  • Ensure visitor access, safety, and security, and maintain thorough knowledge of the section through regular patrols and observation of natural processes.
  • Monitor and prevent Illegal activities, such as Land Invasion, illegal harvesting of flora and fauna
  • Implement Integrated Fire Management Plan (Detection, prevention, suppression, fire breaks management, prescribed/ ecological burns, fuel load reduction.

Biodiversity Conservation Management:

  • Plan and execute various patrols (foot, vehicle, vessel, bicycle, horse, canine) across park and MPA boundaries; map areas of concern and monitor water sources and environmental impacts.
  • Participate in rescue operations, medical incidents, game capture, population control, and assist with wildlife census activities.
  • Coordinate environmental education training and document ecological events through observation and interpretation.

Safety, Security & Compliance:

  • Enforce good corporate governance, risk management, and ensure adherence to legal, ethical, and safety procedures, including OHS compliance and law enforcement reporting.
  • Develop and maintain safety and security plans, control visitor activities, and secure entrance gates, camps, and international ports of entry.
  • Protect the conservation estate by enforcing relevant legislation, apprehending suspects appropriately, and preparing cases for court in collaboration with Department of Justice.
  • Maintain territorial integrity through coordinated patrols, detect incursions, and monitor high-value species using advanced field ranger deployment strategies.
  • Collect and analyse data from adjacent areas using effective systems to support proactive security and conservation efforts.
  • Ensure law enforcement reporting takes place accurately and timeously as is necessary (CMore/ Sitreps/ real time/ Mike reports/METT/SOAIM etc.)

People Management:

  • Manage training, mentoring, discipline, and wellness initiatives, including trauma counselling and legal support for staff.
  • Plan and coordinate personnel training, evaluation, and accreditation (e.g., EMI, field ranger retraining, and other qualifications).
  • Promote teamwork, monitor BSP teams, and conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with site specifications.
  • Implement SANParks policy and SOPs.

Financial Management

  • Prepare budgets in line with SANParks guidelines and ensure sound financial oversight.
  • Facilitate procurement processes, ensure compliance with SCM policies, and manage inventory, stock, and assets.
  • Assist with tourism income collection and contribute to Bid Specifications Committee when required.

Stakeholder Management

  • Foster cooperation with neighbouring communities, private landowners, and stakeholders to support constituency building, economic empowerment, and address public concerns.
  • Promote environmental education and awareness within and around the protected area and actively engage in park forums and related structures.

REGIONAL MANAGER (SCM): CAPE REGION

 

The Organisation requires the services of the Regional Manager: SCM in the Supply Chain Management Division. This position will be based at Cape Region. Purpose of the role is to lead, manage and coordinate end-to-end regional Supply Chain Management (SCM) function through the implementation, and monitoring of compliant policies, systems, and controls in accordance with applicable legislation and National Treasury prescripts.

 

Requirements

FIELD GUIDE (RE-ADVERTISEMENT)

 

A vacancy currently exists for a Field Guide at Addo Elephant National Park in the Tourism Department. The successful candidate will report to the Activity Coordinator. Successful candidate will be required to provide own transport and accommodation as the park does not have staff accommodation.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 certificate (Std 10) required or equivalent ‘
  • FGASA Nature Site Guide/ Trails Guide NQF 4 or equivalent’
  • Registration with DEAT to act as a nature guide.
  • Valid code C1 driver’s license with PDP
  • Sound knowledge of fauna and flora of the area.
  • Sound knowledge of stargazing.
  • Proficiency in two languages (including English) is essential.
  • Valid First Aid Certificate level 1.
  • 2-3 years’ experience as a field guide.
  • Ability to do long and extended game drives and walks under unfavourable conditions.
  • Candidate should be willing to complete a Practical Exam as part of their interview

Responsibilities

  • Activities (game drives and guided walks, etc) to enhance guest experience of Addo Elephant National Park.
  • Selling and promoting of the activities to guests
  • Assisting with any other events in the park.
  • Compiling and completing of vehicle Log Sheets, attendance registers and other admin duties.
  • Maintenance of equipment and game drive vehicles.
  • Assist with interpretive services to guests/schools or during events.
  • Assisting with duty drives and escorting of visitors.
  • The successful candidate will be required to pass the Addo Game Guide exams.
  • Ad-Hoc duties as per instruction of line manager.
