REQUIREMENTS: A Grade 12 (Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification); A minimum of 7 years appropriate experience in child and youth care work after obtaining the required qualification; A valid code B driving licence. Competencies: Knowledge of the following: Developmental programmes; Clerical/administrative procedures; Rules and procedures of the care centre; Professional norms and standards; Professional ethics; Ability to intervene and resolve conflict; Communication (written and verbal) skills in a least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape; Able to understand, facilitate and supervise the care and development of children and youth.
DUTIES: Serve as a team leader for child and youth care workers during a shift: Oversee the admission and related activities of residents to the facility; Oversee the access of residents to medical services; Render care services to residents: Body search where applicable; Observe physical and emotional state of the residents, record and report irregularities/abuse and refer to immediate supervisor; Continuous professional development: Study professional journals and publications to ensure that cognisance is taken of new developments; Liaise and attend meetings with other departments and non-government institutions and relevant stakeholders to take cognisance of the latest developments in the relevant fields; Perform clerical/ administrative support functions: Complete daily registers; Perform all clerical functions required by the job.
