JOB DESCRIPTION:
Key Performance Areas include but not limited to:
• Register and study towards a master’s degree in electrical engineering by research.
• Teach and assess at Diploma level for the subjects/modules in the Department of Electrical Engineering.
• Commit to other professional developments as a university academic in the discipline of Electrical Engineering.
• Influence the development, maintenance, and control in field of specialisation.
• Liaise with Industry including consultation work/collaborative research.
• Conduct student and academic administration and reporting duties in line with responsibility (for instance class behaviour, attitude, and attendance).
• Manage the entire assessment chain for the subject. This includes Identifying the appropriate moderator for the subjects/modules in line with the University policy and determining the appropriate promotion criteria and standards within the University Policies, Guidelines and Timelines.

CRITERIA:
Qualification and Experience:
• Bachelor (BEng/ BTech/ BScEng) and Masters Degrees (MEng/ MTech/ MScEng) in Electrical/ Electronic Engineering
• Must complete PhD within 4 years
• Applicants must be South African citizens who are less than 40 years of age.
• Minimum of two years of industrial experience OR one year of teaching experience in the relevant field of specialisation in an institute of higher education.
• ECSA registration or eligibility to register as a technologist or professional engineer.
 
Skills and Competencies:
• Engineering competence.
• Communication skills (Verbal and written).
• Quality control/ Maintenance procedures.
• Management skills.
• Professional judgement demonstrated in workplace application.
