Job description

  • Administration of certain teaching activities within the discipline is also required
  • Appointed candidates may be required to teach across multiple disciplines at the undergraduate level
 
Minimum requirements
Associate Professor:
  • A relevant PhD degree
  • At least six (6) years working and relevant experience in lecturing, research and/or industry
  • A current and sustained  peer-reviewed research publication record
  • Track record of successful supervision of Masters and/ or PhD students
  • Evidence of attracting external research funds
  • Evidence of academic leadership,  links with external stakeholders, and/or registration with a professional body
Senior Lecturer:
  • Masters degree in the discipline plus CA(SA) designation
  • At least three (3) years working experience in lecturing, research and/or industry in the relevant discipline
  • Evidence of emerging research publication record in peer-reviewed journals
  • Evidence of successful supervision of postgraduate students
  • Evidence of participation as a team member in a grant or submission of grant application
  • Evidence of University service, and involvement in community engagement programmes
Lecturer:
  • Registration with an Accounting professional body as CA(SA)

Job description

Duties will include  conducting  technology  evaluations, providing information  on  patents, conducting research related to University Intellectual Property and Commercialisation, conduct prior art searchers for intellectual property, conduct primary and secondary market research, identify market opportunities and commercialisation of University Intellectual Property. Assist the Technology Transfer Manager to create awareness of projects in the University's commercialisation portfolio. Provide administration support to the 
Technology Transfer portfolio.
 
Minimum requirements
  • Postgraduate qualification in Science or Engineering
  • Five years relevant experience in technology commercialisation.
  • An in-depth understanding of intellectual property, commercialisation and technology transfer and entrepreneurship and/or business management/administration.

Introduction
The incumbent will play a central role in managing, coordinating, analysing and developing the University’s Intellectual Property (IP) Portfolio to ensure effective commercialisation of the Intellectual Property and generation of third-stream income.
 
Job description
The responsibilities of the incumbent include, but are not limited to, overall management of the Technology Transfer (TT) portfolio to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness; ensuring and supporting commercialisation of University IP; generating revenue for the TT Portfolio through various mechanisms; ensuring efficient and effective management of all UKZN IP and funded projects in accordance with statutory and funding requirements; developing IP and commercialisation training and awareness-building interventions for researchers and students; ensuring development and talent management of staff in the TT Portfolio.
 
Minimum requirements
  • Honours Degree/Postgraduate Diploma in Science or Engineering
  • A minimum of 8 years relevant experience in technology commercialisation of which 3 years should be in a managerial/supervision position

Job description
The successful incumbent will be required to render an effective and efficient services as follows:
•    Develop high quality, interactive web applications using .NET (VB and C#), HTML and CSS, for major institutional events and applications. 
•    Develop web templates for university websites, optimize graphics for web and other electronic mediums.
•    Manage and update the top-level pages of the University’s website with institutional events and news and provide support across over 250 sub websites (including support division, Innerweb).
•    Create websites for UKZN Colleges/Schools/Units/Centres using the Wordpress, and provide specialist consulting, training and support to the web masters. 
•    Produce University Electronic newsletters on a weekly basis, responsible for the design layout and distribution.
 
Minimum requirements
1.      A relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
2.      Five years ‘experience, in which two years is in a similar post (as a webmaster), preferably within a higher education, research or corporate communications environment.
3.      Management and supervisory experience is essential.
4.      Code 08 driver’s licence as the candidate will be required to travel between the campuses.
5.      Four years’ experience in creating websites in CMS and writing web applications, specifically as follows;
·        Demonstrated experience in developing online applications and debugging in Visual Studio.Net. Web Portals, Database design and Stored procedures for online applications. 
·        Experience in Windows server environment, managing IIS and site creation procedures
·        Demonstrated experience in graphic design using Adobe Creative Suite, Web Premium
