The mission of the Department of Finance is to offer relevant world-class financial education and scholarship and promote financial literacy. We invite applications for this permanent Professor/Associate Professor post. 
 
The successful candidate will be appointed in the Department of Finance and will be responsible for the following key performance areas:
  • Facilitate learning and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in financial risk management & modelling, corporate finance, asset markets and pricing, and financial technology
  • Conduct research and publish in financial risk management & modelling, corporate finance, asset markets and pricing, and financial technology
  • Undertake undergraduate and postgraduate supervision 
  • Provide academic leadership and administration 
  • Undertake curriculum development and assessment 
  • Participate in relevant community engagement and outreach
  • Other related duties assigned by the chair of the department  
 
Minimum Requirements


Minimum Requirements - Professor:
  • PhD or equivalent in the field of Finance or Economics
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating learning and teaching in two or more of the following fields: financial risk management & modelling, corporate finance, financial analysis, investment management, asset markets and pricing, or financial technology
  • A significant record of quality peer reviewed publications, preferably in two or more of the following fields: financial risk management & modelling, corporate finance, asset markets and pricing, or financial technology
  • A significant record of successful postgraduate supervision 
  • Evidence of the integration of community engagement for societal impact with learning, teaching and research 
  • Evidence of expertise, national standing, and definite international presence in his/her discipline 
  • Experience in generating research grants  

Minimum Requirements - Associate Professor:
  • PhD or equivalent in the field of Finance or Economics
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating learning and teaching in  two or more of the following fields: financial risk management & modelling, corporate finance, asset markets and pricing, financial analysis, investment management or financial technology
  • A track record of quality peer reviewed publications, preferably in two or more of the following fields: financial risk management & modelling, corporate finance, asset markets and pricing, or financial technology

UWC's Information and Communication Services (ICS) Department is currently embarking on an exciting journey of transformation, playing a pivotal role in providing ICT services that enable and support the University's strategic goals and objectives. In alignment with our strategic objective of positioning UWC favourably in the digital era with flexible, seamless, and integrated systems, the ICS department at the University supports the goal of blended learning by providing numerous PC labs for student access.
The Coordinator: Integrated Technology Services will assume a crucial support role, ensuring the continuous and efficient operation of all PC environments throughout the University. This role demands an in-depth understanding of the diverse PC requirements and software applications essential for the academic program. The individual in this role will bear significant responsibility for the administration, design, testing, deployment, maintenance, and support of various PC environments.
 
Role and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinating and presiding over meetings with lab staff,
  • Collaborating with department heads to address and resolve PC lab issues (when required),
  • Compilation of reports,
  • Mitigation of PC risk assessment,
  • Addressing concerns and resolving problems,
  • Liaising with ICS management to address lab requirements,
  • Virtual Services Implementation and Administration,
  • Procuring quotations,
  • Allocating Service Desk tasks to lab staff,
  • Assisting with certain HR functions, such as leave approval and staff development,
  • Managing stock inventories
 
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Screening job applications and verifying references,
  • Assisting in the formulation of interview questions related to the field of expertise,
  • Providing orientation to new staff,
  • Equipping staff with necessary information, technology, equipment, and reference materials for their roles,
  • Conducting training for new and existing staff adapting to new responsibilities or changes in existing duties,
