STUDENT DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
Organisational Unit
University of Mpumalanga -> Office of Dean of Students / Student Services -> Student Health Services
 
Job Primary Purpose
The primary role of this position is to facilitate the provision of training and development programmes for the members of the SRC/CRCs on student leadership. The incumbent will also manage the development of UMP students holistically through extra-curricular programs and training, and to develop and maintain student governance structures to enhance student living and learning experience and promote holistic student development.

Key Performance Areas:
  • Provide support to the student leadership to be functional.
  • Identification of training/development needs of students and student leaders.
  • Facilitate the delivery of training and development programmes for student leaders as well as other students.
  • Creating awareness regarding student development opportunities.
  • Provide operational support and mentorship to student societies and clubs.
 
Minimum Requirements:
  •  A 3 year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  •  A minimum of 3 years of teaching/training experience.
  • Proof of having served in a student leadership structure (SRC).
  • Qualification in teaching/training will be an added advantage.
 
Key Competencies
  • A sound knowledge of trends in student governance affairs.
  • Ability to research and develop student leadership and development programmes and material, and to promote cultural diversity.
  • Functional knowledge of management principles.
  • Ability to organise and administrate the operations of a function/event on campus.
