The Department of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Fort Hare’s Alice campus seeks to appoint a self-driven Postdoctoral research fellow with a strong background in research on peace and conflict studies in sub-Saharan Africa.

Eligibility criteria and conditions are:

Doctoral degree not older than 5 years in Political Science, International Relations, or any related discipline.
Preference will be given to South African Citizens, women in particular, and holders of a South African Permanent Residence permit.

Govan Mbeki Research and Development Centre (GMRDC), in conjunction with the Department of Psychology, University of Fort Hare, seeks a suitably qualified candidate to take up a Post- Doctoral Research Fellowship position as soon as possible. The Fellow will support ongoing research activities in Health Psychology, Sexuality/Gender Studies, Abnormal Psychology and Cultural Psychology.

The Fellowship is valued at R300 000 per annum and is renewable at the end of the year subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funds.

A full-time postdoctoral position is available in the Department of English Studies and Comparative Literature, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, at the University of Fort Hare (UFH), Alice Campus, South Africa. The duration of the fellowship is 12 months but renewable depending on the performance of the post-doctoral fellow as prescribed by the research office of the UFH. The fellow should be able to do research involving Critical Discourse Analysis; Language practices in the Global South; Critical discourses relating to politics, xenophobia, and the land question in Southern Africa

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

Applications are hereby invited for a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship hosted by Prof Mzukisi Njotini at the University of Fort Hare, Faculty of Law.
This fellowship will enable an outstanding doctoral graduate to obtain experience of research and innovation at a higher education institution under the mentorship of established researchers. The fellowship is awarded on a competitive basis, considering the applicant’s academic achievements, publication outputs and research potential, as well as the relevance of prior experience and expertise. The potential postdoctoral fellow will conduct cutting-edge research in Information and Communications Technology Law and will be based at the Faculty of Law for a period of 12 months. The value of the Fellowship is fixed at R300 000 per annum, which will be paid in four equal instalments. The contract may be renewed based on satisfactory research output performance, with a minimum requirement of 2 Units per annum.

Minimum Requirements:

A relevant Doctoral Degree awarded within the last 5 years
Have a proven research track record including at least one article published in an accredited journal and at least one conference presentation
Demonstrate solid proficiency, creativity, critical thinking, ability to collaborate effectively with others, and independent thought process.

Duties:

Submission of at least two research units in DHET accredited journals.
Presentation of research at one international or national conference per annum
Assist with or co-supervise postgraduate students, where applicable.
Assist in organising postgraduate research workshops and seminars.
Contribute to other related research and capacity-building projects at the Faculty of Law as may be delegated

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate should hold a PhD in Law, specializing in Information and communications technology law, law and 4IR or related disciplines obtained within the last five years
Be a South African citizen, Permanent Resident or International for the full-time Postdoctoral Research fellowship position.

A record of accredited research publications, commensurate with the Postdoctoral Research Fellowship position.

POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP IN COMMUNICATION

Applications are invited from qualified candidates for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Fellowship under the Environmental Communication Research Group at the Department of Communication, University of Fort Hare, Alice campus. The Fellowship aims to support and expand current risk communication research in the department, particularly environmental issues and problems. It focuses on evaluating and developing participatory communication strategies for engaging rural and peri-urban residents on climate change and food security, which are critical issues that affect livelihood locally, nationally and globally.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

The broader research centers primarily on how communication could improve pro-environmental behaviours within the context of addressing climate change-related issues and challenges around food security.
To ascertain media salience and public exposure to climate change and food security issues.
Determine public perception, knowledge and attitude toward climate change and food security issues.
Establish the role of media accounts in forming public attitudes and beliefs about climate change and food security.
Understand the links between media accounts and pro-environmental behaviours (climate change and food security)
Explore the role of the media, particularly community radio, in galvanizing the silent majority, especially the rural population, to embrace climate change and food security efficiency behaviours.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA AND CONDITIONS ARE:

Prospective fellows must be self-driven with a solid environmental communication research background, especially in the areas of climate change and food security
Possess a doctoral degree not older than five years in Communication or a closely related discipline.
Preference will be given to South African Citizens, particularly women, holders of a South African Permanent Residence permit while foreign nationals would need to apply for a permit.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL BE REQUIRED TO:

Produce at least three 2 units in DHET-accredited journals.
Contribute to building the research profile of the Environmental Communication Research Group.
The PDRF will actively participate in research activities within the Department of Communication and postgraduate students' supervision and mentoring.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will be involved in research on entrepreneurship, micro entrepreneurship, small business, marketing, and microfinance. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be expected to produce research outputs in accredited journals in the above-mentioned topics.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
