UMALUSI
Umalusi, the Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education and Training is a statutory Quality Council which quality assures education provision in General and Further Education and Training. This body seeks to appoint suitable persons with the relevant qualifications and experience to the following posts. The Council intends to promote representivity through the filling of these posts.
 


SENIOR MANAGER: QUALIFICATION, CURRICULUM AND CERTIFICATION

Requirements
At least a Master’s degree in an educational field; 7 years in management positions as well as extensive knowledge of the South African education and training system. Envisaged for appointment to this top management position is an individual with extensive knowledge of the National Qualification Framework (NQF) environment, qualifications and curriculum issues, as well as good insight into a range of aspects of education, such as standards development, assessment program design, the current education policy environment in South Africa and internationally. Knowledge of certification would be regarded as an advantage. The individual must have worked with issues in adult, vocational, higher and school education. The successful incumbent must be dynamic, highly conceptual, self-motivated, and self-managing. Ability to conduct independent research to guide Umalusi’s approach to standards development and policy establishment is a must. Well-developed conceptual and communication (verbal and written) skills, as well as management skills, are essential. In addition, evidence of creative leadership and effective management qualities, as well as an ability to work with a range of stakeholders, are essential.
 
Duties
The successful candidate will be expected to: manage the policy environment for the General and Further Education and Training Qualifications Sub-framework; To establish, maintain, improve, oversee and report on all Umalusi functions regarding quality assurance of qualifications, curriculum and certification in respect to the following: Ensuring and enhancing the status and quality of the qualifications on the sub-framework which Umalusi develops, manages and reviews. Evaluating curricula to ensure they are of an acceptable quality. Certification of learner performance for all the qualifications on the GFETQSF. Verifying all qualifications that Umalusi – and its predecessor SAFCERT – have issued since 1992. The incumbent is required to participate in strategic planning, annual performance planning, risk and audit management as well as internal and external policy development initiatives.

JUNIOR ICT INFRASTRUCTURE AND USER SUPPORT TECHNICIANS X2

Requirements: • An appropriate 3 years Bachelor’s Degree/National Diploma (NQF Level 6/7) in Information and Communication Technology: Infrastructure and User Support Management or equivalent qualification. • 2 to 3 years of experience in the field of ICT infrastructure and user support management. • A minimum of at least two of the following industry-recognized certifications such as MCITP, A+, N+, Security +, Azure Administration, and ITIL. • 1 to 3 years of experience in ICT Service Management. • Good communication, problem-solving, ICT infrastructure support, and customer relationship skills. • Advanced competence in M365 office suite (e.g. MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Access). • The successful candidate must be adaptable, disciplined, self-confident, able to work independently and under pressure, and ability to work with a diverse team. • Good writing, communication, and interpersonal relationship skills are essential along with experience in database administration and management, and service level agreements management will be an added advantage. • Day-to-day support of the business and resolution of any incidents. Maintenance of existing technologies.
 
Duties
To provide Local Area Network and Desktop Support Services. • To provide support to SITA transversal systems and projects. • To provide technical advice to Supply Chain Management and users on ICT equipment. • Provide notebook and mobile devices (iPads and tablets) support. • Monitor and perform health checks on the network. Analyse and resolve technical problems on the network. • Perform configuration management on the network. • Administer the entire Microsoft Network Environment. • To assist in administering the Microsoft Active Directory and all related systems and services. • Assist in managing the Storage Area Network and maintenance of servers. • Ensure the security and privacy of networks and computer systems. • Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment. • Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems (repair or replace parts, debugging, etc.). • Maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes and maintenance schedule. Identify computer or network equipment shortages and place orders. • Develop and maintain local networks in ways that optimise performance. • Ensure that the necessary network services are available to officials when required to perform their duties. • Provide technical support to the customers/end-users and solve their problems. • ICT helpdesk services by providing first-level contact and conveying resolutions to customer issues; Register incidents, classify and be able to prioritise; escalate unresolved queries to the next level of support. • Provide communication to clients regarding the progress of incidents; and Track, route and redirect problems to correct resources.

SENIOR MANAGER: FINANCE AND SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT

Duties
Duties: Manage the overall financial management and accounting functions of the organisation• Preparation of and oversight of all financial reports (all legislative requirements) • Lead all Supply Chain Management and Asset Management processes • Provide guidelines for financial planning for all units as per annual performance and strategic plans • Initiate, design and co-ordinate the annual budgeting process • Responsible for the review of Annual Financial Statements for presentation and submission to External Auditors and National Treasury • Ensuring that budget projections, expenses and revenue forecasts are updated •Manage and develop staff • Undertake any other appropriate assignments that are allocated by the CFO or CEO.
