​UMALUSI - COUNCIL FOR QUALITY ASSURANCE IN GENERAL AND FURTHER EDUCATION AND TRAINING
 
Umalusi, the Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education and Training is a statutory Quality Council which quality assures education provision in General and Further Education and Training. This body seeks to appoint suitable persons with the relevant qualifications and experience to the following posts. The Council intends to promote representivity through the filling of these posts.
 
JUNIOR STATISTICIAN: RESEARCH

Requirements
  • A 3-year degree in Statistics, an Honours degree will be an advantage.
  • At least three (3) years’ relevant experience• Must have at least one year experience in data mining and statistical analysis
  • Good knowledge of SAS and STATA; competency in the following statistical softwares will be an added advantage: R and SQL.
  • Exposure to survey designs, data capturing, sampling, and data analysis. • The incumbent must be dynamic, self-motivated, self-managing and must be able to work under pressure
  • A valid driver’s license is required. A proven knowledge of data mining using SAS and STATA and must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
 
Duties
  • The successful candidate will handle the statistical aspects of research conducted by Umalusi
  • To lead statistical research and complete reports or the studies. Participate in seminars, colloquia, conferences on statistical aspects.
  • Assist in the maintenance and development of an adequate in-house database for the extensive analysis of assessment results, including standardisation, for Umalusi
  • Provide support to all Umalusi units in terms of their statistical requirements.
