The South African Weather Service (SAWS) is therefore seeking to appoint an efficient and enthusiastic person to undertake the role of: 
 
Internal Audit Manager 
Salary total package: Level 11 
Centre: Centurion

Job summary: 
Reporting to the Chief Audit Executive, the Internal Audit Manager’s responsibility will be to assist the Chief Audit Executive in providing independent, objective assurance and consulting services to various stakeholders in the organization.

Key Performance Areas: 
Provide Internal Audit and Consulting Services 
• Perform Audits as per the Operational Plan approved by the Audit and Risk Committee under the direction and supervision of the Chief Audit Executive. 
• Prepare audit programs, work papers and reports to ensure compliance with established control procedures and identify potential issues that needs attention. 
• Develop control deficiencies, draft audit reports and present potential audit findings to audit client management. Finalise audit reports. 
• Follow-up on audit findings raised to ensure implementation of audit findings. 
• Review of Senior Internal Auditor’s working papers (planning, fieldwork and reporting) to ensure compliance with the IIA standards prior to Chief Audit Executive sign-off. 
• Perform ad-hoc audits as approved by the Audit and Risk Committee under the direction and supervision of the Chief Audit Executive. 
 

Implementation of the Internal Audit Operational Plan 
• Assist the Chief Audit Executive with the development a flexible 3-year strategic rolling plan and an annual audit plan by using an appropriate risk-based methodology. 
• Conduct pre-audit planning activities 
• Draft the audit engagement letters 
• Develop Audit Programs for allocated audits considering the risk environment. 
• Maintain documentation of audit engagements. 
• Prepare complete reports with findings and practical recommendations 
• Perform follow up audits to monitor adequacy of implementation of Management action plans (AG and Internal Audit). 
• Perform and document financial, operations and compliance audits using appropriate tools and techniques. 
 
Financial management/ Human Resource Management 
• Perform audits within time and budget. 
• To monitor progress of audits performed by the Senior Internal Auditor. 
• Complete performance appraisals/target settings for review by the Chief Audit Executive. 
• Review performance appraisal of the Senior Internal Auditor prior to sign-off by the Chief Audit Executive. 
• Maintain Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Hours. 
 
Stakeholder Management 
• Client satisfaction Surveys to be completed at the end of each audit. 
• Attendance of Quarterly Management Committee meetings. 
• Attendance of Staff Meetings. 
• Maintain relationship with Auditees. 
 
Required Minimum Education / Training 
• Post Graduate Degree in Internal Audit/Related Field 
• Studying towards a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) will be an added advantage 
 
Required Minimum Work Experience 
• At least 6 - 7 years’ experience in internal audit which include at least 2 years management experience 
• Experience in performing Internal Audit’s for Public Sector Entities will be an added advantage.
