OPERATOR: FUSION CENTRE X1 (FIXED-TERM CONTRACT ENDING MARCH 2027)

 

A vacancy exists for a highly motivated individual with the necessary skills and experience to fill the position of an Operator: Fusion Centre for the Wildlife Conservation Bond initiative in Addo Elephant National Park. The position will be stationed at Addo Elephant National Park.

Requirements

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities that are required for the job: Certified copy of Qualifications and Certificates must be submitted.

  • Grade 12 or equivalent / NQF level 4 in Security Management/ Policing/ Nature Conservation or relevant field
  • National Diploma (NQF level 6) in Conservation/ Policing/ Information Management or relevant field is desirable.
  • 2- 3 years’ practical experience in an operations control room, security control room, or law enforcement environment or relevant field
  • Health and Safety and First Aid Skills
  • Working knowledge of relevant conservation legislation.
  • Computer Literacy training. Advanced computer skills certificate will be an added advantage.
  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent Administrative and Record Keeping skills, certificate will be an added advantage.
  • A healthy person with high-level mental alertness is required in this position.
  • The willingness to be based inside the park.
  • No criminal record.

 

Responsibilities

Data Capturing and Information Management:

  • Capture operational data from various sources or platforms onto C-more and other relevant databases.
  • Verification of data to ensure accuracy and integrity prior to dissemination.
  • Maintain the collation, storage, and dissemination of operational data across the park.
  • Maintain detailed logs of communications, patrols, incidents, and resource usage.
  • Ensure regular system backups and data integrity checks to prevent information loss.
  • Data capturing and record keeping of daily operations and incidents.
  • Record and update Pocket Book and Occurrence Book on daily basis

Operations Room Monitoring and Support:

  • Monitor real-time CCTV, drone feeds, radio communications, and tracking systems.
  • Receive incident alerts and coordinate immediate operational responses, including resource tracking and communication.
  • Assist in maintaining situational awareness by updating operational status boards and information briefings.
  • Capture and store data related to incidents, patrols, and enforcement activities for reporting.
  • Provide routine and ad hoc reporting on operational activity to senior management.
  • Avoid redundancy in operational systems, including generator backups, emergency communication tools, and secondary reporting protocols.
  • Update real-time incident maps and dashboards to enhance visual command awareness on C-more.
  • Support investigations by providing accurate data, surveillance logs, and communication records.
  • Support the execution of terrestrial, marine, and aerial operations.
  • Record post-operation debriefings and capture key findings.
  • Participate in simulation exercises (e.g., live drills) to test operational readiness.

Administration:

  • Handle sensitive case material with the proper chain- of custody integrity and confidentiality including passwords and access information.
  • Handle conference boardroom reservations.
  • Record keeping of rainfall readings.

DRIVER

 

A challenging vacancy currently exists for a Driver in the Facilities Department at Groenkloof National Park. Reporting to the Supervisor: Corporate Mail/ Print & Fleet Service.

Location Groenkloof National Park (Head Office)

 

Requirements

  • Grade 12
  • A valid driver’s license with a Professional Permit to transport People (PDP).
  • Occupational Health and safety experience.
  • Two (2) to Three (3) years’ work experience as a professional Messenger/Driver.
  • First Aid Training.

 

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
  • Compliance with the SANParks Fleet Management SOP and Code of Conduct for driving official vehicles.
  • Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, identifying and reporting safety defects.
  • Ensuring that the safety measures at the workplace are adhered to.
  • Operate all SANParks vehicles in accordance with the valid driver’s license and Professional Driving Permit (PDP) held in line with the National Road Traffic Act.
  • Provide general driving services for SANParks staff, including non‑executive and executive chauffeur duties when required. Ensure vehicles are kept clean, presentable, and roadworthy.
  • Report all the vehicle defects, incident or accident.
  • Daily control over fuel and oil stock levels of the vehicles.
  • Transport postage, light goods, branding products and official documentations (i.e. Executive Agendas, Reports and Manuals).
  • Maintain records of postage (received and/or delivered), shipment and consignment items.
  • Keep records of traffic infringement/ fines, fuel and tolls slips.
  • Ensure completion of the driver log sheet, trip permits and mileage records.
  • Conduct annual maintenance schedules and monthly inspections of the vehicles.
  • Perform other administrative duties i.e. printing, collating and binding in support of Facilities Operations.
  • Enter details into a non-computer record/ manually.
  • General administration.
  • Report any accidents, incidents, or vehicle issues to the supervisor.
  • Provide professional and reliable service to all internal and external customers as well as sharing general information about the park.

TECHNICAL GENERAL WORKER

 

A vacancy currently exists within Scientific Services for a Technical General Worker stationed at Shingwedzi Research Camp in the Kruger National Park.

Location Kruger National Park

 

Requirements

  • Grade 12 Certificate (matric) required or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of practical experience in a maintenance field.
  • Brush cutter certificate/ competency.
  • Ability to speak, read & write English is essential.
  • Machinery operating, literacy, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Incumbent must be physically fit and capable of performing tasks such as lifting, bending, gardening, and standing for extended periods.
  • Self-motivated, good time management, responsible, and disciplined.
  • Must be willing to work weekends and public holidays.
  • Valid and functional Drivers licence.
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • First Aid Level 1 will serve as an advantage.

 

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the terrain and gardens, including brush cutting and general landscaping.
  • Perform routine general maintenance tasks relating to the Research Camp buildings, fences, roads, water supply and infrastructure.
  • Undertake minor electrical, plumbing, welding, and carpentry work, within the incumbent’s capabilities.
  • Carry out general paint work.
  • Perform general cleaning duties, including removal of rubbish, cleaning of fireplaces, braais, and surrounding areas.
  • Ensure the neatness of the Research Campgrounds and communal areas at all times.
  • Clean vehicles, machinery, tools, and equipment and ensure all are in good working condition at all times.
  • Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) practices at all times.
  • Assist camp supervisor with general cleaning duties of accommodations and communal areas, when necessary.
  • Assist with the collection of supplies when necessary.
  • Assist with inventory counting.
  • Record and report major maintenance issues to the camp supervisor.
  • Perform ad-hoc duties as assigned by the camp supervisor.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME OPPORTUNITIES

 

South African National Parks (SANParks) is the leading conservation authority in all national parks, responsible for 3 751 113 hectares of protected land in 20 national parks. It draws its mandate from National Environmental Management: Protected Areas Act, Act 57 of 2003.

Applications are hereby invited from graduates who completed their National Diploma (NQF6) at a Higher Education Institution (HEI) in South Africa and wish to be placed at SANParks for a period of Twenty-Four (24) Months with a monthly stipend of R6 335.69. SANParks is under no obligation to employ the Intern upon completion of the Programme.
