MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION
Manage and provide strategic direction and guidance to Broadcast Information Technology, in order to ensure optimal delivery on the business needs and requirements of the South African Broadcasting Corporation by optimising facilities, personnel and IT infrastructure.
 
 
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Provide direction in the development, formulation and implementation of strategy for BIT, in order to ensure optimal delivery on business needs and requirements
  • Manage, direct, develop and motivate the BIT team
  • Ensure optimal, efficient client support services to end users and clients
  • Continual analysis of business processes and functioning, in order to enhance efficiencies and effectiveness of service provision
  • Maintenance of operating efficiency by recommending, developing, implementing and maintaining existing and new technology infrastructures within SABC
  • Ensure timeous, cost-effective project delivery
  • Continual monitoring of performance against service level agreements, in order to ensure optimal delivery
  • Ensure optimal integration of functions and strategies, in order to achieve objectives
  • Set up, manage the cost-effective utilisation of BIT budget
  • Building a capable BIT team, in the form of skilled people in all areas and with sound business processes in place
  • Ensure the implementation and maintenance of Information Technology policies and procedures
  • Extract analyse and consolidate information and data relating to risk areas
  • Ensure quality broadcasting information technology equipment, systems and security
  • Liaisons with external service providers, in order to ensure optimal integration of systems and services to deliver on business needs and requirements
  • Assess and advise on global information management and technology trends, ensuring the SABC keeps abreast of these trends
  • Identification of capital budget and requirements whereby BIT contributes to the development of a business plan in conjunction with clients where applicable



QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • BCom Information Systems  or equivalent
  • 10 Years IT experience, preferably at senior level in a large corporate environment
  • 8 Years senior management experience

  • Exceptional flair for development in IT
  • Exceptionally IT literate
