Purpose: The Road Safety Auditor is responsible for ensuring that road safety infrastructure audits are conducted and implemented.
Requirements: •Matric (NQF Level 4) • Degree in relevant Engineering discipline or equivalent (Essential) • Registered as a Professional (Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng) with the Engineering Council of South Africa ( ECSA) ( Essential) • Honours Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline (Advantage) • 2-3 years’ experience in Road Safety Audits/Investigations

Duties: • Identify potential changes to SLA’s with suppliers and discuss these with suppliers •Liaise on a regular basis with all stakeholders and suppliers and ensure that relationships are maintained •Investigate problems and find suitable solutions • Take the appropriate actions and implement/address with teams/individuals •Ensure that customer complaints are dealt with and resolved within all set RTMC policies and procedures • Ensure that all service providers follow set RTMC policies and procedures • Ensure compliance with all legislatives and regulative requirements • Deliver optimal customer service to internal and external customers that adds value to the business and generates a low rate of complaints from customers •Deal with customer complaints quickly and effectively • Ensure regular communication with customers • Share customer feedback with team members to ensure customer service is improved • Coordinate the South African Road Assessment Programme (SA-RAP) in line with iRAP principles • Monitor and evaluate SA-RAP programmes and Road Safety Audits in SA • Monitor and evaluate road safety audit and network level assessments in SA to ensure that there is compliance with set standards • Coordinate road safety audits across all road authorities in the country • Ensure compliance with South African Road Safety Audit Manual • Conduct ad hoc Road Infrastructure Audits in line with the South African Road Safety Audit Manual • Compile a report with audit results and submit to the Manager: Safety Engineering • Assist the Major Crash Investigation Units with conducting road safety investigations at major crash scenes • Compile relevant professional reports and submit to the Manager: Road Safety Engineering • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on road safety audits • Attend Road Safety Audits Sub-Committee and Working Groups and collaborate with all members • Develop and maintain a database for road safety audits and reports • Develop own individual Development Plan (IDP) reflecting current and future development requirements to drive personal development • Identify training, certification and conference opportunities to attend that will add value to your personal development and to the RTMC • Remain up to date with relevant market trends and incorporate information into your work to add value • Ensure that opportunities are taken on with a “ can- do attitude” and with a focus on continuous learning.
