HEAVY CURRENT TECHNICIAN
All-Inclusive Salary R305 204 – R499 428
MIINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• NQF Level 6 / Three years’ diploma or N6 with red seal certificate in Electrical Engineering or similar;
• 3 years’ experience within engineering field or theatre or similar sector;
• Ability to work under pressure and willingness to work irregular hours.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
• Plan scheduled and non-scheduled equipment maintenance activities for the department;
• Perform condition assessment of technical and operational assets;
• Commission heavy current installations
• Ensure workshop tools and assets are maintained within agreed standards;
• Conduct tests to diagnose and determine the cause of equipment breakdown;
• Isolate, remove and replace defective components;
• Conduct root case analysis in case of machinery failure;
• Service and repair lighting equipment;
• Test circuits and functionality of new components;
• Design layout for integrated circuits, according to engineering specifications.

Please note: The above-mentioned salary range is all-inclusive and the entry level is only negotiable if the incumbent’s current earning is above the entry level. Also note that the appointed person will sometimes be expected to work after hours and on weekends, but within the statutory number of hours, without additional compensation. Further note that this position does not qualify for overtime pay.
