JOB SUMMARY
The successful candidate will be responsible to lead and manage the Multimedia Production Unit, ensuring high-quality production, coordination, and dissemination of multimedia content across multiple digital platforms. Responsible for Parliament’s digital presence, including live streaming and content management on platforms such as Parliament website, Television, YouTube, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), WhatsApp, Radio, audio platforms and any other platforms in the future. Also responsible for managing photographic services, graphic design and multimedia archives.
 
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:

TO QUALIFY, YOU MUST HAVE:
  • Matric certificate (NQF4), Bachelor’s degree in Multimedia Production, Multimedia Design, Digital Media, Communication Science, Media Studies, Film Production, Broadcasting or equivalent qualification (NQF level 7) or Relevant Postgraduate Diploma in Communication / Digital Media / Multimedia and Public Admin.
  • With 8 years of relevant experience in multimedia production / digital media of which 5 years must have been at managerial or supervisory level. Previous experience in the public sector or parliamentary/legislative environment is preferred.
 
IN ADDITION, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO DEMOSTRATE THE FOLLOWING SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND JOB-RELATED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
Knowledge and Technical Skills
  • Demonstrated experience with live streaming production, broadcast media, and digital content distribution.
  • Knowledge of and experience in working in a public sector environment.
  • Proven expertise in managing online and digital platforms, live broadcasting, video production, photography, and design.
  • Advanced knowledge of digital platforms and live streaming tools
  • Technical expertise in audio-visual production, broadcasting, and media archiving
  • Financial planning and budget management
  • Strategic planning and project execution
  • Research and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Human Resources and Change Management processes and practices
  • Good knowledge of the South African Broadcasting
  • Code of Conduct and relevant copyright and data protection laws.
  • Understanding of media law, copyright, and information ethics
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Use of Official Languages Act
  • Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent skills in MS365 Suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Sound understanding of the South African socio-political landscape and institutional sensitivities.
  • Knowledge of the unique communication environment within Parliament or similar legislative institutions.
  • Understanding of participatory democracy and political dynamics.
  • Strong tact and diplomacy skills
