The Office of Health Standards Compliance (OHSC) is a public entity established in line with the requirements of the National Health Amendment Act, 2013 (Act 12 of 2013) with core objectives of protecting and promoting the health and safety of the users of health services through monitoring and enforcing compliance with prescribed norms and standards; as well as disposing of complaints from users. The posts will be filled in line with the OHSC’s Employment Equity Plan. Candidates with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
Protecting and promoting the health and safety of the users of health services
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT: HEALTH SYSTEMS ANALYSIS AND REGISTRY (REF NO: OHSC 6/2021)
Salary: R 257 508 per annum (plus applicable benefits)
Requirements: A three-year bachelor’s degree/three-year National Diploma in Administration or related field. At least 2 years’ experience in office administration and information and records management. Experience must include cataloguing, data capturing and the use of online search engines or data bases. Experience in customer services would be an advantage. Good planning, problem solving, communication, organisational and conflict handling skills. Computer literate on MSWord, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. A valid driver’s licence.
Duties: Support the administration of the health establishment registry. Source, search, validate and update the health establishment registry. Support data management, the submission of annual returns from health establishments and assist with the compilation of reports on annual returns submissions. Communicate and track correspondence with stakeholders and provide logistical support for stakeholder engagements. Provide administrative and support services to the Director and other staff in the unit. Manage correspondence to and from stakeholders.
INVESTIGATOR: HEALTH CARE CASES (REF NO: OHSC 7/21)
Salary: An all-inclusive salary package of R869 007 per annum (basic salary consists of 70% or 76% of the total package, States contribution to the Government Employee Pension Fund (13% of basic salary) and a flexible portion). The flexible portion can be structured according to OHSC guidelines.
Requirements: A bachelor’s degree or Post Basic Diploma in the Health Science field. Current registration with the relevant professional health council/body. A postgraduate qualification in a medical field, law or health care quality assurance would be an advantage. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the health care field in a health facility of which 3 years must have been at a junior management level. Proficiency in more than one African language is required. Experience in complaints investigations, case management or medico-legal investigations in a health environment would be an added advantage. Excellent problem-solving, decision making, communication (written and verbal) and conflict resolution skills. Report writing and complaints handing skills. Willingness to work outside the normal working hours and under pressure. A valid driver’s license.

Conduct investigations into high and extreme risk rated health care complaints. Produce and submit investigation reports. Close out investigations.
