With accumulated funds and assets worth more than R1,6 trillion, the Government Employees Pension Fund (GEPF) is a defined benefit fund that manages pensions and related benefits on behalf of government employees in South Africa. It is the largest pension fund in South Africa and Africa, and one of the largest in the world with more than 1.2 million active members and around 480 000 pensioners and beneficiaries. 
 
The Fund is actively seeking to appoint a highly regarded and respected leader to assume the position of:
 
HEAD: CORPORATE SERVICES
 
 
Purpose of the role: Advise and assist the Principal Executive Officer and the Board in leading, managing and overseeing the internal operations and corporate services within the Government Employees Pension Fund. This includes the Legal and Compliance, Human Resources, and ICT functions within the organisation.
 
Key responsibilities: • Provide strategic direction and alignment of the Corporate Services business unit's strategy with the organisation's strategy • Manage the Corporate Services Unit including budgets and expenditure • Oversee the compliance function and provide legal advice and counsel to the organisation • Oversee the provision of HR management and the delivery of HR functions • Oversee the management of ICT services • Manage people and ensure an appropriate structure and capacity is in place to deliver on the organisation's strategic objectives • Liaise with and manage a range of internal and external stakeholders and ensure Corporate Governance compliance • Perform any other duties as allocated or mandated by the Principal Executive Officer.


Qualifications, skills, experience and competencies: • A relevant Bachelor's degree • An MBA or other post-graduate degree in Management or other relevant post-graduate qualification is desirable • A minimum of 8 years' experience as an Executive / Senior Manager of which at least 3 years was in a similar role, managing corporate support functions in a complex organisation • Experience in the financial services / knowledge of the GEPF / Pension Fund sector will be an advantage • Strong business orientation with proven competence and application of management and leadership skills across disciplines • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of relevant legislation, principles, and application • Strategic capability • Ability to lead teams • Business acumen • Integrity and proven ethical conduct • Excellent interpersonal skills • Customer focused.
