The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) is a regulatory authority established as a juristic person in terms of section 3 of the National Energy Regulator Act, 2004 (Act No. 40 of 2004). NERSA’s mandate is to regulate the electricity, pipedgas and petroleum pipeline industries in terms of the Electricity Regulation Act, 2006 (Act No. 4 of 2006), Gas Act, 2001 (Act No. 48 of 2001) and Petroleum Pipelines Act, 2003 (Act No. 60 of 2003). The structure of the Energy Regulator consists of nine members, five of whom are part time and four are full time, including the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
The Energy Regulator is supported by a secretariat under the direction of the CEO. NERSA wishes to recruit personnel with appropriate competencies in the following areas:
Senior Financial and Market Analyst
Department: Gas Pricing and Tariffs (GPT)
Package: R740 220.00 – R1 015 042.00 per annum (CTC)
Reference: HR 06/21
Requirements: * A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or any other similar or equivalent qualification * Minimum five (5) years’ working experience that could be applied to piped-gas pricing and tariffs.
The candidate must be competent in the following: * Modelling and spreadsheets * Report writing skills * Interpersonal skills * Computer literacy (MS Excel, Word, Power Point and Microsoft Project) * Analytical skills * Interpersonal skills * Good communication (verbal and written) skills * Leadership skills * Time management skills * Decision-making and accountability.
Purpose: Reporting to the Head of the Department: Gas Pricing and Tariffs, the incumbent will assist NERSA in discharging its responsibilities with regard to unbundling of accounts and tariffs.

Gas Licensing Technician
Department: Gas Licensing, Compliance and Dispute Resolution (GLC)
Package: R479 128.00 – R608 484.00 per annum (CTC)

Requirements: * A National Diploma in Chemical Engineering or equivalent * Minimum three (3) years’ related experience in chemical or other relevant industry.
The candidate must be competent in the following: * Good communication (written, verbal and presentation) skills * Interpersonal skills * Negotiation skills * Analytical skills * Planning and organisational skills * Problem-solving skills * Computer literacy.
Purpose: Reporting to the Head of the Department: Gas Licensing, Compliance and Dispute Resolution, the incumbent will be responsible to administer the Gas Act, associated Rules and Regulations regarding licensing.
Key responsibilities: The successful incumbent will: * conduct technical, economic, financial and legal evaluations of the piped-gas industry licence applications * assist in developing, benchmarking and reviewing piped-gas industry licence conditions * assist in developing piped-gas industry regulatory rules * produce reports to aid decisions of the Energy Regulator * assist in gathering industry information and maintain a database for the piped-gas industry * liaise with and provide assistance to stakeholders on regulatory matters and maintain proper records * liaise with other statutory bodies to gather Geographic Information System data for licensing piped-gas activities * manage, maintain and implement the piped-gas Geographic Information System * provide support to the Head of Department and conduct ad-hoc activities assigned by the Head of Department.

Receptionist
Department: Communication and Stakeholder Management (CSM)
Salary package: R228 578.00 – R308 782.00 per annum (CTC)

Requirements: * A Grade 12 Certificate * Certificate/Diploma in Business and Office Administration will be an added advantage * Minimum of one-year experience as a Receptionist.
The candidate must be competent in the following: * Good communication (verbal and written) skills * Computer literacy skills * Administrative skills * Interpersonal skills * Client/customer care skills * Telephone etiquette.
Purpose: Reporting to the Head of Department: Communication and Stakeholder Management, the incumbent will be required to provide support to business and administrative objectives.
Key responsibilities: The successful incumbent will: * manage the reception area * answer telephone calls and enquiries * handle venue bookings * handle mail and other deliveries * direct visitors and handle parking vouchers for them * maintain excellent standard at the reception area * answer calls and deliver messages * render ad-hoc activities as requested by the Head of Department.
