Nquthu Local Municipality (KZ 242) invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the following position:
 
Position : Fire Station Officer
Salary : Task Grade 12 of the category 1 Municipality, plus Benefits such as Medical Aid, Pension Fund and 13th Cheque
Type of Contract : Permanent
Place of Work : Technical Services Offices
 
 
Key Requirements:
 Grade 12 Certificate,
 Certificate in Fire Fighter I and II or equivalent qualification
 First Aid Certificate Level 3 or Basic Ambulance Assistant Certificate
 Must be in possession of valid driver’s license (C1 or above) for heavy duty vehicles.
Successful candidates will be required to obtain code EC within 12 months after appointment.
 A minimum of five years experience in a Fire and Rescue Service
 Excellent planning, and organizational skills Must have knowledge of methods, practices, and techniques of modern firefighting, fire prevention, fire inspection, fire apparatus and equipment purchasing, hazardous material mitigation and emergency management services.
 Ability to work adequately, independently, copes with work load pressure and meets deadlines.
 Language proficiency in IsiZulu, Sesotho and English
 Knowledge of Disaster Management Act, Fire Protection Regulations, Fire Brigade Services Act.
 Additional relevant fire and rescue certificates will be an added advantage
 
 
Key Performance Areas
 Manage the operational and administrative activities of the all shifts;
 Perform firefighting service in and around Nquthu Municipality;
 Ensuring community preparedness for emergencies;
 Perform law enforcement of fire safety regulations and notices;
 Ensure compliance with a predetermined standard of effectiveness and efficiency within the fire station;
 Assist in the formation of and monitoring Fire Protection Associations for agriculture and related sectors;
 Perform daily inspection of all vehicles, building, machinery and equipment;
 Take charge of all daily parades and conduct inspections on personnel;
 Ensure safe operation of equipment; supervise, assign and direct staff;
 Supervise control room staff and duties;
 Compile reports for each attended or inspection conducted;
 Preparing Monthly, Quarterly and Annual reports to the Manager;
 Coordinate demonstration to the visiting schools and the public;
 Conduct fire safety inspections and awareness campaigns;
 Ensure that subordinates are able to meet their objectives,
