Child and Youth Care Team Leader Grade 1
District: Dr Kenneth Kaunda
Salary: R 157 245 p.a. The successful candidate will be required to sign a performance agreement within three months.

Requirements: • Grade 12 or NQF Level 4, FETC Child and Youth Care Certificate/Qualification • A minimum of 7 years' experience working as a Child and Youth Care Worker after obtaining the required qualification • Current proof of registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions as Child and Youth Care Worker • Diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care Development will be an added advantage • A valid driver's license is requited • Competencies: • Must be able to work cooperatively with others • Must be able to build a positive relationship of trust with service users • Must be able to display good ethical and moral conduct 
• Must be able to mentor, coach, and provide continuous support, guidance, and advice to service users • Must be able to maintain a healthy interpersonal relationship with others • Must be able to manage the performance and conduct of supervisees • Must be able to convey clear messages/information and write clear reports • Must be able to solve problems • Must be able to plan and organise own work and supervisee's work • Must have knowledge and understanding of substance abuse prevention related policies and legislation • Must be able to ensure the implementation of planned programs and activities for service users • Must be able to ensure the promotion and upholding of the rights of service users • Must know the rules and procedures of the treatment Centre • Must be able to perform administrative tasks.
 
Duties: Supervise Child &Youth Care Workers • Manage work performance and development of the supervisees • Ensure the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of rehabilitative programs • Ensure compliance with regard to implementation of norms and standards of In-patient treatment centres • Monitor compliance to relevant legislations and policies and promote service user's rights • Perform administrative functions including handing over, occurrence book monitoring, loss control, inventory control management • Supervise life space intervention, assessment, IDP formulation/implementation. Ensure supervision and escorting of service users.

Salary: R 356 535 p.a. The successful candidate will be required to sign a performance agreement within three months.

Requirements: • Grade 12 or NQF level 4 plus BSC Occupational Therapy and I year community service, Proof of current registration with Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA), relevant experience will be an added advantage • A valid driver's licence and computer literacy • Competencies: • Knowledge of the Public service legislations, Mental Health and Substance abuse related legislations • Ability to conduct thorough assessment • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) setting • Ability to design programmes and run projects • Innovative and creative skills, Communication skills, facilitation and presentation skills, people management and empowerment skills • Service Delivery improvement skills • Report writing skills • Problem solving abilities, physical strength, organisation skills, compassion and empathy • Knowledge of treatment practises and drive to continually learn and grow in the profession • Ability to manage service users with different types of personalities.
 
Duties: • Assess, plan, organise and participate as part of multi-disciplinary team in rehabilitative programmes that help restore vocational, daily living skills, wellbeing and quality of life of service users • Test and evaluate mental abilities to determine realistic rehabilitation goals and limitations of service users • Coordinate Occupational Therapy and consult with rehabilitation team to select activity programme with other therapeutic activities • Help service users to improve decision making, abstract reasoning, memory, sequencing, coordination and perceptual skills • Help service users regain mental functioning by implementing programs involving manual arts and crafts • Help service users practice in functional stills and activities of daily living • Provide occupational therapy guidance, support and education during sessions • Select and adapt the appropriate occupational therapist treatment models, methods and approaches to direct the process of interventions for service users • Develop treatment plans for service users, laying out the types of activities and specific goals to be accomplished • Evaluate service user's progress and prepare detailed progress reports • Refer service users to other multi-disciplinary team members when necessary • Oversee and supervise the work of Occupational Therapist Assistant • Participate in the formulation and implementation of occupational therapy guidelines, practices, standards and procedures • Attend and participate in in-service training • Provide inputs for budget and submit motivations for equipment or material for Occupational therapy • Collect data, keep records and manage information.

Requirements: • Grade 12 or NQF level 4 plus BSC Occupational Therapy and 1-year community service. Proof of current registration with Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) • Computer literacy • Competencies: Ability to good written and verbal communication, commitment to best practices and active participation in the supervisory process • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary team • Ability to screen and recommend for proper assessment • Ability to manage service users with different types of personalities • Ability to motivate and involve service users in recreational activities • Ability to perform multiple tasks and handle problems effectively • Excellent coordination and organisational skills • Knowledge and experience of substance abuse rehabilitation programmes • Knowledge of relevant substance abuse related prescripts.
 
Duties: • Assist Occupational Therapist in planning, implementing and administering therapy programs to restore, reinforce and enhance performance, using selected activities • Demonstrate therapy techniques such as manual and creative arts • Encourage service users and attend to their needs to facilitate the attainment of therapeutic goals • Observe service user's progress, attitudes and accomplishments • Record and report the observations to the Occupational Therapist • Perform administrative duties • Prepare and maintain work area, materials and equipment and maintain inventory of treatment and educational supplies • Supervise service users during the performance of arts, crafts and planned therapeutic activities or projects.
