City Power Johannesburg (SOC) Ltd is a municipal entity wholly owned by the City of Johannesburg. City Power commenced operations on 01 January 2001 and is responsible for electricity distribution within its area of supply in the City of Johannesburg. The Company provides services to a mix of approximately 3.2 million people.

Purpose
To ensure that Metering systems are supported through sound architecture definition and application, and technical governance of the access and protection of the information contained thereof to support a smart utility. This vision is supported by a strategy and framework for managing metering systems and providing optimal and sound technological solutions for managing these systems.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct system health checks to ensure adequate availability and performance of metering systems.
• Define compelling business arguments for senior management to elicit change on future or existing data issues.
• Define a strategic plan for metering systems for a smart utility according to the business strategy
• Define compelling business arguments for executive management to elicit change on future or existing metering systems issues.
• Ensure the effective management of the metering systems lifecycle through the alignment of the Metering System’s Plan/Strategy to both the Business and ICT Strategies.
• Provide common vision for metering systems operations that make it possible to predict, model, gauge, and control the flow of data.
• Provide a standard framework for addressing metering system issues and system design decisions in order to develop durable business solutions.
• Responsible for building liaison between the ICT, data developers and the end users who needs exclusive rights over their own data and system access.
• Gain top management support in the Metering System Support initiative's planning and quality perspective and work with ICT management team to come up with strategies to mitigate political roadblocks.
• Address resistance to system integration and sharing that can result in failed projects due to resistance across the organization.
• Garner business commitment for business process initiatives that support improved customer service, integrated managed processes and continuous improvement cycles.
• Manage and monitor the application and adherence to ITIL and COBIT processes by the metering systems support team.
• Provide the required Metering systems ‘architecture that allow the business continuity.
• Review the business processes to identify gaps and ensure continuous improvement.
• Promote business effectiveness and efficiency while striving for innovation, flexibility, and integration with technology
• Actively manage metering systems’ projects to optimize the outcome
• Effectively manage people and finances of the division

Minimum qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree Information Technology or Computer Science
Related Minimum Experience
• 5 years’ experience in systems, technology and information management of which a minimum of 3 years should be at a managerial level
