Psychologist (Educational)
Learners with Severe to Profound Intellectual Disability (LSPID)
Directorate: Learner Social Support Services (LSSS)

Salary: Package R633 702 Inclusive of the 37% (3 Years Renewable Contract)

Requirements:• Master Degree in Psychology (Educational) and be registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Psychologist (HPCSA) • Three years' appropriate teaching experience and management • Registration with SACE • A valid driver's license • Experience in special needs.
 
Competencies:• They should have knowledge and understanding of education legislation and policies • The incumbent must be able to promote inclusive education which includes promoting access to quality public funded education for learners with disability • They should have experience in working as part of a team and collaborating with stakeholders •They should able to take initiatives, work under pressure and problem-solve if and when necessary • Experience in coordinating education and other support for learners with disabilities will be an added advantage • The incumbent will function as part of the District-based Support Team with the specific responsibility of providing transversal outreach services to care centres and special schools that include learners with severe to profound intellectual disability (LSPID) • The applicant must have advanced computer skills.
 
Duties:• To collaborate with team members in the provision of support to designated schools and care centres on an itinerant basis • Support the assessment of LSPID enrolled in the schools/care centres • Provision of relevant therapeutic intervention to learners and families • Monitoring and reporting on these learner's progress • Training caregivers on learning programme for LSPID • Monitoring and reporting caregivers implementation of the learning programme for LSPID • Training and supporting teachers, on learning programme for LSPID • Monitoring and reporting on the implementation of the learning programme in designated schools and care centres • Advocating for access to quality public funded education for LSPID and carrying out administrative functions related to the support provided • To provide support to other learners in the community as and when needed • Function as part of the District-based Support Team with the specific responsibility of providing transversal outreach services to care centres and special schools that include learners with severe to profound intellectual disability (LSPID).

Chief Educational Therapist Physiotherapist (Educational) Grade 1

Requirements:• A recognised three (3) or four (4) years professional qualification in Physiotherapy with three years' experience • A teacher's qualification and experience in education plus registration with the South African Council of Educators (SACE) as a professional educator will be an added advantage • Registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Physiotherapist • The job involves extensive travelling and therefore a valid driver's licence is required • Advanced computer skills.
