INFRASTRUCTURE AND ENGINEERING DIRECTORATE 
SENIOR TECHNICIAN
(SCIENTIFIC SERVICES - BACTERIOLOGICAL)
POSITION CODE: 210125
TASK Grade 12 (R408 432 – R567 852 per annum)
(Basic salary only, excluding benefits)

Qualifications and experience required: 
·         A relevant Tertiary Qualification.
·         Computer Literacy – MS Office applications.
·         A valid Code EB Driver’s License.
·         Three to four years’ relevant experience.

·        Analytical and technical skills in assessing, understanding and delivering business requirements.
·        Ability to observe, identify faults, prepare reports and implementing resolutions within the scope of practice
·       A team player, able to communicate well with subordinates and superiors

Special conditions attached to this position: 
·    The nature of the position requires the incumbent to be physically fit and able bodied.
·      The incumbent will be required to undergo a medical examination at the NMBM Wellness Centre.
 
 
Job purpose
Coordinates and controls the functions associated with the Water and Sewerage Laboratory through the chemical analysing of all samples in accordance with laid down testing procedures, checking, processing and inputting analytical results unto the database, calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment, investigating/ reviewing present and new analytical methods, preparing reports and investigating/ reviewing present and new analytical methods, preparing reports and investigating/ advising on technical problems and ensuring compliance with ISO 17025. 
 
As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, a medical examination, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
