INFRASTRUCTURE AND ENGINEERING DIRECTORATE
DIRECTOR: SUPPORT SERVICES

TASK GRADE 18 (R1 053 408 – R1 464 492 per annum)
(Basic salary only, excluding benefits)
In compliance with the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s Employment Equity Plan, preference will be given to suitably qualified African and Indian male and African female applicants.
Qualifications and experience required:
· Relevant tertiary qualification (B Degree or N Diploma in Administration or equivalent) – NQF Level 6.
· Valid Code EB driver’s license.
· Five to seven years’ relevant experience to perform functions associated with the post, preferably in a municipal environment.
Key attributes and competencies:
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Applications).
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent managerial skills.
- Good report-writing, monitoring and evaluation skills.
- Knowledge of applicable municipal policies, as well as any other relevant legislation.
Job purpose:
Directing and controlling the key performance area and result indicators associated with the provision of an effective and comprehensive Support Services function by amending, adjusting and reviewing policies and procedures against the Department standards, audit guidelines and legislative imperatives.
Identifying opportunities for business process improvement and directing the design, development and implementation of change management initiatives.
Controlling administrative and financial result indicators as a component and critical measure of the efficiency and quality of the execution of the core service related deliverables.
Evaluating and aligning the technical and operational planning and decision- making processes pertaining to the management of the Municipality’s Fleet requirements, Plant Maintenance and Scientific Services functions in order to ensure that the Branch is positioned to deliver against specific priorities supporting the strategic service delivery intent as encapsulated in the Integrated Development Plan of the Municipality.
As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, a medical examination, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
Fringe benefits will include membership of a Retirement Fund, Medical Aid Scheme, Group Life Assurance Scheme, participation in a Housing Subsidy and Car Schemes (subject to the conditions of the various Schemes), and normal leave and sick leave benefits.
