- Valid registration as a Professional Engineer.
- Seven (7) years’ relevant experience post-registration.
Key attributes and competencies:
- Management, supervisory, negotiation and financial management skills.
- Decision-making involving risk is required as incorrect decisions, e.g. during switching operations, could jeopardise safety to staff, plant and equipment.
- Must be able to cope with working under environmental conditions that are physically stressful such as varying temperatures and weather conditions. The job is performed on or near live electricity cables and equipment and in confined areas such as switchyards and enclosed substations.
- Work is performed under pressure e.g. during power failures and under conditions of considerable interruptions, conflicting deadlines and urgent/critical/essential unforeseen issues requiring immediate attention to avoid costly delays or repercussions, causing high level of time stress. Predetermined deadlines must be adhered to in respect of payroll matters, for example payment of overtime, allowances, etc. Must work overtime and render standby duties.

Qualifications and experience required:
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant field.
- Computer literacy in MS Office applications.
- A valid Code B driver’s licence.
- Three to four years’ relevant work experience.
Key attributes and competencies:
- Proficient oral and written communication skills in English and at least one other official local language.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Calm, well-tempered and able to deal with difficult people.
- Good supervisory skills.
- Excellent report-writing and presentation skills.

Special conditions associated with the position:
- Must be physically fit and able-bodied.
- Ability to bend, lift heavy objects and climb ladders and fences into pits.

Job purpose:
Performing tasks/activities associated with the collection, storage and disposal of domestic/garden/trade refuse in a designated district through performance of specific operational functions, community education and awareness campaigns, performance of supervisory and administrative functions supporting accomplishment of service delivery objectives encapsulated in the Integrated Development Plan.
As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, medical examination, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
