NATIONAL REGULATOR FOR COMPULSORY SPECIFICATIONS (NRCS)
The National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications (NRCS) was established on 1 September 2008 in accordance with the National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications Act. It is an agency of the dti, established to administer compulsory specifications and other technical regulations with the view to protect human health and safety, the environment and to ensure fair trade, in accordance with Government policies and guidelines. It is the NRCS intention to promote equity through the filling of posts, according to set Employment Equity targets. To facilitate this process successfully, an indication of race, gender and disability status is required.

Ref: No.:8867
Basic Salary Per Annum: R425 233.68
Purpose: To administer vehicle model numbers (NaTIS) and WMI codes to the manufacturers, importers and builders (MIB) of motor vehicles in South Africa.
KPA/ Key outputs:
- Process Notification for Vehicle Model (NVM) applications and generate model numbers
- Administer World Manufacturer Identifier (WMI) Code Register.
- Process sanctions for non-compliant Manufacturers, Importers and Builders of motor vehicles (MIB) as requested by the relevant officials (de-linking of NaTIS model numbers)
- Effective Stakeholder interactions.
- General Office administration
Requirements/ Experience:
- National Diploma in Public or Transport administration or Equivalent qualification in Automotive Field
- 3 years’ experience within the Automotive Inspectorate / Vehicle or Transport law Administration/ Automotive Testing or similar field
Knowledge & Skills:
- Good knowledge of automotive inspectorate/regulating/enforcement processes,
- Good knowledge of vehicle classification/ categorisation and automotive products,
- Good Knowledge of Vehicle Registrations and/or Administrations Information Systems,
- Very Good Administration Skills (e.g. email and telephone etiquette),
- Basic knowledge of legislation which governs the Automotive department (NRCS Act and NRTA)
