The National Library of South Africa wishes to make the following Appointment at its Pretoria Campus 
 
Manager: LIS Special Projects 
(Three-year contract) 
Reference Number: 03/01/2021 
Salary scale: R634 628.00 – R 740 907.00 
 
 
The objectives of the National Library of South Africa (NLSA) are to contribute to socio-economic, cultural, educational, scientific and innovative development by collecting, recording, preserving and making available the national documentary heritage and promoting an awareness and appreciation thereof, by fostering information literacy, and by facilitating access to the world’s information resources. 
 
The NLSA invites applications from suitably qualified persons for appointment on a contract basis, as a Manager: LIS Special Projects. The successful individual will be based at the Pretoria Campus. The successful candidate will report to the Executive Director: Core Programmes. 
 
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS 
 Manage ICT internship projects implemented in province 
 Research and implement of ICT initiatives for libraries 
 Provide support for the NLSA’s Library Management System 
 Provide support, advice and guidance on ICT matters to public libraries 
 Facilitate training funded by the Grant for Public Libraries 
 Conduct monitoring and evaluation of the Conditional Grant projects 

 
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIANCE 
 A four (4) year recognised Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Library and Information Science and a recognised Project Management qualification 
 PMBOK or PRINCE2 certificate or a higher qualification in Project Management and/or Library and Information Science and/or ICT will be an added advantage. 
 At least five years of experience in the Library and Information Services (LIS) environment. 
 A minimum of 3 years of experience in Project Management which should include ICT projects. 
 Knowledge of Library and Information Management systems 
 High level of computer literacy and an understanding of 4IR in an LIS environment. 
 People management, conflict management and dynamic problem solving skills. 
 The ability to work with a team. 
 Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). 
 Innovative, analytical and organisation skills. 
 Quality orientation, accuracy, reliability and risk management competencies. 
 Knowledge management and information management. 
 Valid driver’s license.
