Qualifications & Experience: 
A Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or Journalism or equivalent is a minimum requirement. 5 years’ experience in the communications environment at a managerial level. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in at least two official languages. 
 
Purpose:
The Corporate Communications Manager is the lead decision maker on all corporate communication activities the NAMC engages in and is responsible for the development, management and coordination of the communications strategy and all associated, tasks and initiatives in line with the NAMC policies and procedures. 
 
Skills & Knowledge: 
Ability to function effectively under pressure and be deadline orientated. Ability to deal with National and Provincial government departments, stakeholders and staff in an appropriate manner. Ability to function independently, as well as within a team. 
Knowledge and understanding of Public Communications, Public relations and Marketing guidelines. Broad knowledge of all media and excellent public relations skills. Deep understanding of, experience with, and proven success directly managing social media. 
 
The successful candidate will be expected to amongst other 
• Develop and manage the effective implementation of the communication strategies and plans in line with NAMC strategic objectives, policies and procedures. 
• Communicate the NAMC’s vision by developing and implementing short- and long-term Media strategies for specific projects and initiatives. 
• Conceptualize, maintain and create updated content for all communication platforms, including Newsletters, Publications, Website and social media. 
• Monitor news, updates, and research relevant to initiatives and sector; recommend and create related content to distribute broadly and accordingly. 
• Increase the visibility and status of the NAMC reputation and create awareness regarding its work and how it disseminates its research to the public. 
• Liaise with key divisions to develop proactive communications plans to support their business objectives. 
• Undertake Media training for Council, Management and other relevant Officials. 
• Serve as writer and editor for a broad array of organizational communications, including brochures, newsletters, annual reports, and presentations.

MANAGER: AGRO-FOOD CHAINS

Qualifications & Experience: 
A Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics or related qualification, a PhD will be an added advantage, 5 - 10 years management experience. Strong financial management and budgeting background. Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development. Understanding of Government Statutes, Procedures, and Processes. Good understanding of and/ or experience in managing a public entity or other relevant organisation. 
 
Skills & Knowledge: 
Knowledge of the Marketing of Agricultural Products Act of 1996 (MAP) Act, Knowledge of corporate identity and governance. Knowledge of relevant legislative processes and procedures and knowledge of leadership and management principles. Proven Leadership, Strategic Planning Management and Change Management Skills. 
 
The successful candidate will be expected to amongst others: 
1. Execute strategic oversight, timely and quality delivery of Agro-food chain repots 
 
Manage the development, timeous and quality submission of the following Reports: 
• Value Chain Analysis 
• Input Cost Monitor 
• Food Price Monitoring 
• Farm-to-Retail-Price-Spread 
• Supply and Demand Estimates 
• Macro Digest _ Labour 
• Macro Digest_ Gross Domestic Product (GDP 
• Food Basket Monthly, as well as 
• Food Cost Review 
 
2. Oversee the quality assurance and management of Agro-Food Chain Unit Policy Briefs/ Advisories/ Commentaries submitted to the Minister 
• Manage the development and quality of the policy briefs/ advisories/ commentaries 
 
3. Oversee quality assurance and management of Agro-Food Chain Unit research output and projects 
• Manage and provide project management support on the project undertaken in the Agro-Food Chains unit. 
 
4. Manage /Execute Stakeholder Management and Research 
• Manage stakeholders and engage in various platforms (including seminars, webinars, information days, workshops, etc.) on activities and areas relating to agro-food chain focus areas and other value chain players in the sector. 
• Participate in and manage research activities in Agro Food Chain Unit 
• Provide strategic support and /leadership on MERC activities, cross-divisional NAMC initiatives and Ad Hoc activities 
 
5. Manage the operational activities of Agro-food chain unit 
• Organize and lead monthly meetings of the Agro Food Chain Unit 
• Manage the development and implementation of the operational plan of the Agro Food Chain Unit 
• Manage the human resources within the agro-food chain 
• Provide input into the quarterly progress report of the MERC division on matters relating to the Agro Food Chain Unit
