CALL FOR NOMINATIONS OF COUNCIL MEMBER TO SERVES AT MNAMBITHI TECHNICAL VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING (TVET) COLLEGE IN TERMS OF TERMS 10(6) of the CET Act 16 of 2006 (as amended)
MNAMBITHI TVET College invites interested and competent individuals who wish to contribute towards skills development in the College to apply to serve as council member for a period of five (5) years.
The College requires four (4) new additional external members, with expertise in one of the following fields: Finance Management, Audit and Risk, Human Resource, Legal, Information Technology.
Kindly note that appointments are subject to the approval of the Minister of Higher Education and Training.
Nominees should be able to:
Ensure that the functions of the council are performed according to the highest professional standards;
Ensure that the council members have sound knowledge and understanding of the Further Education and Training sector;
Appreciate the role of Further Education and Training in reconstruction and development; and
Ensure that the council is broadly representative of the community served by the college in respect of race, gender and disability.
Council must have at least one member per specialized field: Minimum Key Requirements.
A Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following: Finance Management; Audit and Risk; Human Resource; Information Communication Technology.
Five (05) years’ working experience in a senior position in one of the fields listed below:
Financial Management: comprehensive content knowledge; a financial degree (preferably qualifies as a Charted Accountant and/or as a financial auditor.
Human Resource Management: comprehensive content knowledge; at least a degree in Human Resource or equivalent.
Information Technology: Comprehensive content knowledge;
Legal: comprehensive content knowledge in Post Education Legal Framework.

POSITION: COLLEGE COUNCIL SECRETARY

REQUIREMENTS: Qualifications and experience: Matric, three year Diploma/ Degree in Public Management or Office Management/ Equivalent qualification. Sound Knowledge of MS packages (MS Word, MS Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) is essential. Minimum of three (3) years in secretarial function or similar role. A valid driver’s licence is a requirement. Basic Financial Management experience will be an added advantage. Competencies: good listening and writing skills. A good command in English. Good interpersonal relations and customer orientation, organizing and planning skills; Attention to detail; Knowledge of the Higher Education and Training communication protocols. Attributes: Professional, discreet, maintain high levels of confidentiality, assertive, good organizer with sound judgement and decision making skills. Ability to work under pressure.
Duties: Managing logistics for Council meetings and its sub committees, managing the interface between College Council and management and also between stakeholders and the Council. Providing secretarial duties to the Council and its sub committees. Providing advice and guidance on relevant policy gaps. Assisting with research and drafting of charters, terms of reference, policy documents on governance and legal matters. Ensuring that corporate governance best practices are adopted by the Council.
NOTE: The successful candidate’s appointment will be subject to a security clearance process and the verification of educational qualification certificates. MNAMBITHI TVET COLLEGE IS RECRUITING FOR AN EXTERNAL COUNCIL MEMBER REPRESENTING DONORS
The College is looking for a dynamic and knowledgeable person on community engagement, institutional relevance, donor experience, fund raising efforts and donor stewardship to serve as a donor member from organized business in the College Council.
Functions:
Contribute to and support the College strategic plan
Promote the culture of collaboration, creativity and community engagement in the College
Advise the Principal on fund raising opportunities, prospective donors and growing the number of donors
Provide guidance on fundraising efforts to raise funds through individual, corporate giving, sponsorships and contributions
Knowledge Skills and abilities
Strong social and people skills, and knowledge of the community
Ability to generate enthusiasm in fundraising and other activities
Must have a positive attitude, utmost integrity, a strong sense of discretion, and mature personality conducive to dealing appropriately and effectively with all levels of donors, staff and Council
Ability to maintain donor confidentiality as appropriate
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in fundraising, marketing, or related field. Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience accepted in lieu of degree.
Three years of successful experience in development and fundraising for a recognized non-profit institution (may be substituted with experience in non-profit marketing and public relations)
Two years' experience of involvement with a Higher Education institution or a similar environment preferred.

AUDIT AND RISK COMMITTEE MEMBERS (X3 POSTS)
Audit and Risk Committee members shall be appointed as independent contractors and not as employees of Mnambithi College. Appointment will be for a five-year term and remuneration shall be in accordance with National Treasury Regulations 3.1.6, read with 20.2.3. Members will be remunerated for preparation and attendance of meetings.
CENTRE: Mnambithi TVET College
REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be in possession of a graduate qualification in the field of Accounting, Internal Auditing, Risk Management or Information Communication Technology. Possession of a CA (SA), CIA, CISA, CFE or MBA qualification will be an added advantage.
EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have a sound experience in Internal Audit, Governance and Risk Management, Information Communication Technology, Strategy Development, Implementation and Monitoring, and External Auditing. A proven record of service or membership of the following Committees: Audit Committee, Risk Management Committee, IT Steering Committee, Ethics Committee and/or any Governance Body.
ATTRIBUTES AND SKILLS: Independence, integrity, objectivity, reliability, sound knowledge of Public Sector environment, knowledge of governance and risk management principles and control processes, good communication skills, strong leadership skills, knowledge of the Public Administration Industry. Independence from all operations of Mnambithi TVET College.
DUTIES: The Committee regulates and discharges its responsibilities in accordance with the provisions of the PFMA, Treasury Regulations and the approved Audit Committee Charter.
