Minimum Requirements: 
• A doctoral qualification in an appropriate discipline offered within the faculty. 
• At least ten years relevant academic management experience (at the level of Senior Lecturer and above), five years of which must be at the level of an Academic HOD. 
• Sound knowledge of higher education and the higher education system in South Africa and internationally. 
• Relevant higher education leadership and managerial skills. 
• A strong research profile that demonstrates leadership. 
• A strong record of initiating and managing collaborations and partnerships at local, regional and international levels. 
 
Recommendations:
• A full Professorship will be an added advantage. 
 
Competencies:
• High academic and professional standing in the field of expertise, and the high academic credibility amongst peers. 
• Strategic planning and implementation experience.

Remuneration: We offer a negotiable market- related total remuneration package (i.e., inclusive of benefits: 13th cheque, housing subsidy/allowance, pension, medical aid, group life and study grant where applicable). 
 
The retirement age is 65 years. Five (5) - year performance-based contract with the expectation of the successful incumbent to be able to serve the full 5-year term.

Director: Earmarked Grants (P5)-Ref: VC14

Key Performance Areas: 
• Management of the Central Project Management Office and staff within the Office. 
• Coordinate and manage earmarked grant projects. 
• Ensure implementation of the Standard Operational Procedures (SOP) for reporting on DHET Earmarked Grants by Project Owners 
• Reporting to EMC and DHET 
• Oversee the functions of the Project Manager of the Turnaround Strategy 
 
Minimum Requirements: 
• A Masters’ degree 
• Have at least 5 years’ experience in project management. 
• Have at least 3 years’ experience as a Project Manager 
• Have participated in at least 2 of DHET’s earmarked projects (as team leader or team member). 
• Have a sound understanding of DHET’s earmarked grants, in particular the IEG and the SBDP grants. 
• Have experience in report writing on earmarked projects to DHET.

DIRECTOR: MONITORING, EVALUATION AND REPORTING (P5): Ref: IP01 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
• Manage staff performance within the unit. 
• Coordinate the writing and submission of the MUT Annual Report of year n-1; the MUT Mid-Year Performance Report of Year n; and the development of quarterly reports on the Institutional Operational Plan (IOP) 
• Coordinate statutory and compliance reporting to DHET and other stakeholders, including HEMIS reporting to DHET. 
• Coordinate institutional data provision and conduct data analyses as required. 
• Assist in the development of MUT’s Strategic Plan, Annual Performance Plan (APP) and Institutional Operational Plan (IOP) 
• Collaborate on DIPR Institutional Research projects and Risk Management. 
 
Minimum Requirements: 
• A Master’s Degree, preferably with a strong numerical background. 
• At least five years’ experience in a senior position in a University’s Institutional Planning Office or HEMIS Unit (Higher Education Management Information System) 
• A successful record of leadership and teamwork 
 
Recommendations:

Minimum Requirements: 
• An Honour’s degree or equivalent qualification at NQF Level 8 Information Systems, Statistics, Demography, Data Science, Higher Education Management, or related field. Master’s degree or above will be an advantage. 
• At least 5 years’ relevant experience in any combination of the following areas within a higher education institution or related organisations such as DHET, SAQA, CHE, or ETDP SETA: 
o South African Higher Education Management Information System (HEMIS) 
o Management Information (MI) 
o Institutional Research

• Assist university staff and students in promoting bilingualism in line with the 2020 National Language Policy Framework for Higher Education Institutions (LPHEI) framework, in teaching and learning, institutional culture and research. 
• Develop and facilitate IsiZulu language acquisition course for non-mother tongue speakers. 
• Display understanding context of given texts of academic disciplines by engaging university staff thereby facilitating the adoption of English and IsiZulu versions. 
• Conduct language training workshops to enhance and strengthen bilingualism in English and IsiZulu languages for university staff and students. 
• Ensure that edited, translated, simplified, proofread, and corrected texts maintain and convey original messaging, meaning and tone. 
 
Minimum Requirements: 
• Degree/Diploma in Language Practice/Language Education/Linguistics specialization 
• A minimum of three (3) years working in a Post School Education and Training (PSET) environment. 
• A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a language practice/language education/linguistics department.

Key Performance Areas:

• Conducting training in the utilization of library resources and tools for academic writing

Minimum Requirements: 
• An NQF Level 7 qualification in Library and Information Studies/Science (Bachelor’s/ Advanced Diploma / B-Tech or equivalent) OR any degree plus Post-graduate Diploma in LIS. 
• Three (3) years’ experience in providing training of library resources utilization in a Higher Education environment. 
• Three (3) years’ experience in providing research support in a Higher Education environment. 
• Knowledge of information literacy. 
• Knowledge of E-resources databases and Open Access resources 
• Proven knowledge of research writing software applications (e.g., Turnitin, Grammarly, Excel, etc.) 
• Proven knowledge and excellent skill in the use of referencing management tools (e.g., RefWorks, Endnote, Mendeley, Zotero.

• Planning, management, and implementation of the Writing Centre programmes. 
• Facilitate the development of academic writing competencies amongst staff and students. 
• Conduct research on language and academic literacies. 
• Participate in staff and students support provided by the TLDC and other departments. 
• Design and delivery learning materials on writing pedagogies. 
• Collaboration with lecturers in developing disciplinary writing content. 
 
Minimum Requirements: 
• Honours’ Degree or equivalent, preferably with a Linguistics/Language Education specialization. 
• A minimum of three (3) years working in a Post School Education and Training (PSET) environment. 
• A minimum of one year Writing Centre experience. 
 
Recommendations:
• Master’s degree is recommended.
