REQUIREMENTS
-Grade 12. - National Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent. - Qualified Plumber/Millwright (Red Seal) will be an added advantage. - B-degree in Civil Engineering will be an added advantage. - Experience in water & sewer infrastructure maintenance, operations and construction. - Valid code 08 or 10 Driver’s license. - Excellent Communication, Interpersonal skills. - Computer Literacy (MSWord, Excel & PowerPoint). - Competent in interpretation, implementation and enforcement of relevant legislation and applicable policies. - Skills & Competencies associated with vocation: adaptability, communication, assertiveness/leadership skills, conflict & stress management, negotiation skills & problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, attention to detail. - Project management and financial management skills & experience. - Hard working, self-motivated and self-disciplined person. 3 - 5 years’ relevant experience in Water & Sanitation within Local Government Authority.
 
DUTIES
-Management, control, and planning of all sanitation section activities by: - Issuing work orders. - Organising subordinates to coordinate and control work, teams. - Monitoring productivity. - Planning and project management of the sanitation section. - Procurement and stock control of all materials and equipment used, including vehicles. - Guides, advise and assist subordinates through communication and on the job training to ensure an effective work force. - Handling all complaints and attends meeting related to sanitation section. - Responsible for all problems and deadlines relating to queries. - Work with contractors to ensure that work is done effectively and to high standards. - Responsible for all health and safety matters in the section and perform investigations. - General administrative duties pertaining to the position. - Responsible for discipline and management of grievances according to the prescribed disciplinary code and Council policies. - Budget management for effective operations and maintenance of sanitation section. - Perform any other related Ad Hoc tasks and duties as requested or required by management from time to time.
 
SALARY R396 492.00 p.a. – R435 180.00 p.a. (Level 05 of a Grade 04 Local Authority)
Total package inclusive of all benefits: R584 721.00 p.a.

-Grade 12. - National Diploma specific to vocation or recognised trade tested Millwright qualification (with N3). -Basic Boiler making, Electrical & Fitting skills - Driver’s License (PDP added advantage). - Computer Literate (MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint). - An honest, hardworking, and self-disciplined person. - Skills & Competencies associated with vocation: Excellent communication & interpersonal skills, analytical thinking, empowerment, adaptability, mentorship skills, leadership skills, presentation skills, conflict & stress management skills, negotiation skills, attention to detail. – Competency in the interpretation of layouts and drawings. - Competent in interpretation, implementation and enforcement of relevant legislation and applicable policies. – 3 to 5 years relevant experience related to electrical and mechanical maintenance, fault-finding and commissioning of services pipe networks, pumps, motors, valves, PRV (Pressure reducing valves) and auxiliaries, wiring of panels programming of program logic controllers (PLCs), variable speed drives (VSDs) and pump/motor relays, construction or assembly of services pipe networks. -Municipal environment experience will be an added advantage.
 
DUTIES
Installs and maintains all water and sewer pumps, panels, and motors within the jurisdiction area of the council supplied localities: - By checking, fault finding and root cause analysis and preventative maintenance of equipment. - Cleaning, repairing parts of panels, pumps and motors as well as structure of pump stations and related work areas to ensure good maintenance and operation of the abovementioned structures. - Responsible for the general maintenance on municipal pumps and water services infrastructure to ensure safe and precise supply of water services to consumers/rates payers/general public. - Supervision and control over the assisting team’s daily productivity of the section related matters:  - By delegation of work and assistance during maintenance of pumps and panels to ensure constant availability of water related services to consumers/ratepayers/general public. - Maintain discipline within assisting teams. – Manage and measure daily activities and performance of assisting teams to ensure maximum productivity and high-quality standard of work (ensuring the minimization of downtime and optimal functioning of the section). - Responsible for safety of co-workers, vehicles, and equipment by: - Immediately Reporting any losses or injuries to the superintendent immediately for safety efficiency precautions as stipulated by the safety acts. - Adhere to health and safety environment, quality and housekeeping standards. - To ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and procedures. - Perform any other related Ad Hoc tasks and duties as requested or required by management (supervisor) from time to time.

-Responsible for loading and off-loading of materials and equipment of the section with protected hands and safety tools. -Put out traffic signs to warn traffic about workers next to municipal roads during excavation of work. -Clean in and around the working area of responsibility with various manual labour equipment/tools to ensure clean environment. -Do any labour related work when requested by either the supervisor or the superintendent of the section. -Execution of all legal instructions from the supervisor to ensure productivity and smooth running of the section. -Perform any other related Ad Hoc tasks and duties as requested or required by management (supervisor) from time to time.
