DUTIES : The incumbent will head the Department of Medicine at Grey’s Hospital and manage all operational and strategic matters of the Department, as well as coordinate services related to Internal Medicine within “Area 2”.Ensure provision of a cost –effective and high quality Internal Medicine service 24/7 (outpatient and inpatient care) at Grey’s Hospital. Formulate and execute annual operational plans, and a medium- to long-term strategy for the Department of Medicine, which meets the Department of Health’s needs, and develop and manage the Department of Medicine in line with the strategy. Develop and implement strategies for meeting APP and other set targets, specifically with regards to ALOS, BUR and bed turnover rates in Medicine wards, mortality and morbidity, waiting times, etc. Adept personnel management, EPMDS, recruitment and retention, labour relations and disciplinary processes, conflict management, grievance handling, etc. Ensure optimal level of skills and competencies of all staff, incl. sessional medical practitioners, within the Department of Medicine. REQUIREMENT : A Degree/Post Graduate Diploma in Public Health / Epidemiology / Biostatistics / Statistics. Approximately 3 years’ experience applying epidemiological and/or statistical concepts to public health-related data analysis, preferably with HIV, ART, and/or TB data. Strong understanding of the public health system, with a specific focus on health information, including data production, routine data in public health settings, cohort monitoring, and data quality improvement. Demonstrated experience with statistical analysis package, such as STATA. Demonstrated experience working with data visualization tools. Experience working in or supporting, the public health sector. High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook), Tier.Net, Web-DHIS. Strong analytical and presentation skills, attention to detail. Ability to build and maintain effective relationships within the team, with colleagues and various stakeholders. DUTIES : Key Performance Areas: Be responsible for the supervision and guidance of all subordinate staff in the Electrical maintenance division. Ensure that routine, day-to-day, maintenance is carried out on all Buildings, Plant & Machinery. Ensure that proper training is given to subordinates in carrying out these duties, under his control. Supervise and ensure that Job Cards are issued in accordance with the maintenance procedure, with special reference to, an estimated time for completion of the task and allocation of work to nominated maintenance officers. Ensure that all material used & the actual time taken is properly recorded on the reverse side of the Job card. Check that Job Card Control Registers are completed correctly, with special reference to work outstanding. Be responsible for the ordering of bulk services such as coal, fuel, oil and such materials and shall liaise with the supplier’s manager to ensure the timely ordering of materials. Assist the Chief Artisan in the preparation of briefs, schedule of work to be done, plans etc. where applicable for contractual works. Inspect and approve the completion of work performed by contractors and pass for payment. Ensure that regular inspections are undertaken of the institution plant and buildings and of relevant contractual works and that the registers are annotated accordingly for such items such as Emergency Generator sets, Medical Gas Plants, Autoclaves, etc. Ensure that spot checks are carried out on essential equipment such as, fire-protection equipment, electrical appliances, kitchen equipment and laundry equipment and that these items are inspected thoroughly on a monthly basis. Check, assess and report on the work performance of his/her subordinates and facilitate and arrange regular meetings with his/her staff. Be responsible for the organisation and implementation of the planned work of the electrical unit, including improvement and temporary re-allocation of duties, and training and development of staff. Ensure that Job Card Control Register in respect of repairs to equipment is maintained up to date and the respective job cards associated with the relative requisition forms are fully completed, duly signed and forwarded to the Equipment Office. Be responsible for the daily checking, examination and annotation of the attendance register.
