JOHANNESBURG WATER - MICROSOFT SERVER AND APPLICATION

 
PURPOSE
The Microsoft Server and Application Support provides support to the Infrastructure Specialist team in the support of the data servers and related backend system, voice and data communications, application software, patch management, storage and data backup and the provision of third line support to the desktop support team
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure that servers are properly installed into the data centre racks and securely fastened. Provide technical hardware support for servers including troubleshooting. Ensure servers are connected to power. Ensure servers are physically connected to the data centre network using the standard network connection for servers e.g. Ethernet. Ensure that the Microsoft SCOM agent is installed on the server and configured as per the Server Base Build standards. Inform the IT Infrastructure team and the IT Manager for Infrastructure of any changes to hardware server. Provide technical operational server support including troubleshooting Operating System, Network, Storage and backup issues. On a daily and weekly basis monitor critical and important server health checks through Microsoft SCOM or physical check.
