SENIOR STAGE TECHNICIAN 
 
The Joburg City Theatres (JCT), an entity of the City of Johannesburg that stimulates and operates Joburg Theatre, Roodepoort Theatre and Soweto Theatre to provide the integrated management of theatre is seeking a skilled and experienced Marketing Manager to join the JCT team. 
 
LOCATION : JOBURG THEATRE

REPORTING : SENIOR TECHNICAL MANAGER 
SALARY RANGE : R28,315.59(basic salary excluding benefits) 
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 
  • Matric/Grade 12 or equivalent (NQF Level 4) 
  • Relevant National Diploma (NQF level 6) 
  • 4 years of practical work experience in stage technical work. 
  • Knowledge of technical skills such as proficiency in lighting and sound systems, stage rigging and equipment operation. 
  • Knowledge of stage rigging techniques and safety protocols. 
  • Knowledge of set building. 
  • Computer Literacy 
 
PRIMARY FUNCTION 
The Senior Stage Technician is responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of stage productions, including all in-house productions and co-productions, ensuring smooth execution, and maintaining equipment. 
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Oversee Stage setup and teardown of stage equipment and scenery. 
  • Enforce health and safety regulation. 
  • Inspect hanging gear and make sure that it is safe to use and in good repair. 
  • Maintain and repair stage equipment 
  • Ensure safety cables are attached to all hanging gear. 
  • Replace faulty equipment and recommend to the senior management to upgrade to newer and safer technology when necessary. 
  • Collaborate with production team, including directors, producers. And other technicians. 
  • Use computers and computer systems (including software and hardware) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information. 
  • Operate computerized stage machinery. 
  • Determine formats and approaches, content, levels and mediums to effectively meet objectives within budgetary constraints, using research, knowledge and training. 
  • Determine technical requirements of productions or projects. 
  • Schedule events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of subordinates. 
  • Draw Stage Crew time sheets on behalf of the Technical Manager. 
  • Take annual stock of Stage scenery, furnisher and props stock and monthly stock take of consumables. 
  • Guide and assist visiting technical staff and clients wherever necessary. 
  • Maintain inventories of set, props and machinery. 
  • Maintain logs of production activities. 
  • Operate any stage equipment within theatre when needed. 
  • Train and manage the performance of subordinates – 
  • Study the script and consult with the director to assess what is required. 
 
Leading Competencies: 
  • Must have head for heights. 
  • Must be able to work extended hours 
  • Be able to communicate effectively in English 
  • Must have technical knowledge and experience in Stage design.

  • Knowledge of stage rigging techniques and safety protocols 
  • Ability to operate various stage equipment 
  • Trouble shooting such ability to quickly identify and resolve technical issues. 
  • Ability to relate and work with people. 
  • Ability to work in teams and individuals. 
  • Ability to lead and supervise stage technical crew.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 
  • Grade 12 or equivalent. 
  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree 
  • 1 year experience working in governance and compliance 
  • Good verbal and written communication in English 
 
PRIMARY FUNCTION 
Responsible for providing administrative and operational support to the Governance and Legal department. Office of the Company Secretary regarding compliance and ethics monitoring, committee meetings logistics and administration, assist in legal research monitoring of updates in various legislations relevant to and affecting JCT and serves as an ethics ambassador. 
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Schedule and prepare meeting packs and take minutes of meetings such as ICT Steering Committee. Remuneration, Social and Ethics Committee (REMSEC), Audit and Risk Committee and other meetings as delegated meetings, all with the guidance of the Company Secretary 
  • Management Committee (MANCO) meetings from scheduling, preparing packs, taking comprehensive minutes and preparing plan of actions 
  • Conduct ethics awareness, internal workshops and ensure ethics reporting to REMSEC and the Board 
  • Report and compilation evidence for compliance reporting and submission to the City of Joburg 
  • Attend Group meetings on behalf of the Company Secretary and provide feedback ● Prepare the entity’s annual report on Ethics Governance 
  • Prepare the entity’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) and facilitate the AGM process through inviting board and committee members 
  • Attend Group Governance meetings and if requested, present the entity’s resolutions 
  • Assist in conducting board and committee inductions 
  • Responsible for Report writing, typing and printing 
  • Responsible for the general Office Administration

SECURITY OFFICER X 2

Department : Building & Security 
Location : Joburg Theatre & Soweto Theatre 
Reporting : Building and Facilities Managers 
Salary : R10,616.35 (Basic Salary Excluding Benefits) 
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 
  • Matric/Grade 12 or equivalent (NQF Level 4) 
  • Certification: Valid PSIRA Registration (Grade C or higher) 
  • 1-year relevant security experience. 
  • Must be able to stand for up to 4 hours 
  • Basic computer literacy 
  • Strong interpersonal skills 
  • Good verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to work shifts/weekends 
  • Good sense of judgement. 
  • No criminal record 
 
PRIMARY FUNCTION 
• Provide access control, parameter patrolling, guarding, security systems operations and general security services to ensure the safety and security of employees, stakeholders/ clients, assets, information, and building/ facilities. 
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 
• Patrol premises and secure entrances, windows and other access points. 
• Monitor CCTV and responding to incidents 
• Enforce security policies. Procedures regulations. 
• Control access to staff, visitors and vehicles. 
• Issue access control permits and receives same on departure 
• Ensure that all visitors are fetched from reception/access control point and escorted throughout building by host. 
• Subject employees and visitors to walkthrough detection systems and ensure that weapons and unauthorized articles are not taken into the buildings 
• Ensure that private firearms are registered and locked in appropriate firearm safe facility. 
• Baggage to X-ray examination and ensure that all unauthorized items/articles detected are prevented from entering the premises 
• Ensure that all private property brought into the building is declared in the appropriate registers 
• Ensure that all assets removed from the premises are accompanied by appropriate asset removal permits 
• Respond to all electronic security system at the facility 
• Check for the operation of all electronic systems during one’s shifts. 
• Record all security breaches detected, and action initiated to contain same 
• Conduct office inspections to check compliance with office security. 
• Remove all vulnerable assets abandoned in risk areas and keep them in safe custody. 
• Check building perimeter and electronic security systems deployed around the building on commencement and termination of one’s shift. 
• Conduct vehicle searches where appropriate and necessary. 
• Provide any other security duties as may reasonably be required from time to time.
