Joburg City Theatres (JCT) is an entity of the City of Johannesburg that operates Joburg Theatre (Braamfontein), Roodepoort Theatre and Soweto Theatre in order provide the integrated management of world class African theatre venues and a high quality entertaining, innovative and inclusive program which serves the diverse communities of the City of Joburg. 
 
PERMANENT POSITION

Purpose of the position: This position is responsible for the effective and efficient functioning of the Board and its Committees, ensuring a smooth interface between the entity’s deliverables and JCT Board’s mandate and provides legal advice where needed. The successful candidate is expected to introduce and maintain best practices in respect of the MFMA, King IV and the Companies Act. He/she reports to the Chief Executive Officer administratively and functionally to the Board Chairperson.

Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited
Effective management of the Board and Committee meetings ● Timely production and delivery of the minutes processing action lists, drafting of agendas and various functions to facilitate an expedient committee management process ● Facilitate the implementation of Board and Committee decisions ● Ensure that the reporting process follows good governance practice ● Ensure that meetings feed into each other and ultimately into Board ● Safeguard and storage of confidential information ● Key source of assistance and guidance to the Board ● Capacitation and support around governance matters throughout the organisation ●Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements ● Monitor legal and regulatory environment ● Administer the AGM ● Ensure proper induction and orientation of Board members ● Collate and verify performance information for reporting ● Compile shareholder reports in accordance with MFMA and other relevant legislation ● Lead and manage client and stakeholder relationships ● Attend shareholder and other meetings on behalf of the organisation.

Minimum Requirements:
Recognized law degree ● 8 -10 years’ experience in a legal management environment of which at least 5 years must have been at a Senior Management/Strategic level ● Good verbal and written communication skills ● Attention to detail ● Analytical and problem-solving skills.
