Joburg City Theatres (JCT) is an entity of the City of Johannesburg that operates Joburg Theatre (Braamfontein), Roodepoort Theatre and Soweto Theatre in order provide the integrated management of world class African theatre venues and a high quality entertaining, innovative and inclusive program which serves the diverse communities of the City of Joburg.
PERMANENT POSITION

Designation: Producer (REF: PROD/21
Salary: :R461,784 – 593 688 per annum Negotiable based on proven experience
Purpose of the position:
The Producer will be responsible for producing all aspects of the in house productions, negotiate contracts with potential visiting companies and co-producers in consultation with the Chief Operations Officer and Artistic Director. The Producer will be responsible for day to day producing requirements of the productions whilst in performances and will be the main point of liaison for internal and external stakeholders
Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited
Implementing the company’s artistic policy and objectives ● Assist in planning and delivering of all theatre arts programs, special projects and auxiliary program activities ● Preparing documentation and contracts for in-house productions, co-productions and / or tenant hires to be hosted at the theatre; negotiate possible dates and basic terms of lease agreements with producers, tenants, co-producers and their representatives ● Assist the Programming team – Chief Operations Officer and Artistic Director with all administrative duties ● Ensure that approved budgets are adhere to ● Be aware of current news, trends and innovations within the theatre industry and be pro-active in identifying opportunities from such trends ● Attend performances on a regular basis in order to ensure maintenance of standards throughout the run ● Build and maintain excellent working relationships with all relevant external stakeholders on behalf of department

Minimum Requirements:
A relevant qualification in a business/arts management discipline ● A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the theatre/arts environment/industry ● Ability to establish useful contacts in the industry ● High levels of proficiency in written and verbal communications in the English language ● Excellent project management, budgeting and organizational skills ● Basic accounting skills ● Problem-solving skills ● A willingness to work unsociable hours.
