PUBLIC PROGRAMMES CORDINATOR – INDEFINITE APPOINTMENT
Basic Salary Range: R456 325,38 per annum, plus benefits
Requirements: NQF Level 6 in in any of the following or related disciplines, history, natural history, arts, tourism, public management, project management. • A post-graduate qualification will be advantageous. • At least 5 years’ experience in natural/ social/ art/ history education/museum environment. • Experience must include stakeholder relations management, project and events management, of which 3 years should be at supervisory level with a demonstrated track record of competence and success. • Familiarity with the current national curriculum and museum public programming. • Computer literacy in MS Office. • A valid driver’s licence.
Key Responsibilities include: Planning, organising and prioritising own activities in relation to set objectives.• Planning, organising, prioritising, scheduling and implementing public programmes in relation to the year plan.• Stake holder relations, liaising with other Iziko Museums departments and external contacts. • Contributing to the development of a relevant community outreach and audience development programme. • Assisting with the development of public support programme material for publication. • Coordinating contributions to the development of public education content on the Iziko Museums website. • Writing popular articles and provide information to the Advancement Department. • Identifying, assessing, analysing, and monitoring risks. • Report writing, project proposals and concept development. • Developing a coherent public intervention campaign with the Advancement Department and provide input into special events. • Knowledge of the museum public programming, project/event management theory and application methods. • Research trends in public programmes.
Competencies Required: Strong command of the English language (written and verbal) • Strong command of one or more South African official languages • Project management and risk management skills • Ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders • Administrative and organisational skills • Leadership and management experience • Public speaking experience • Programme and project management experience • People management • Financial management and experience in development and monitoring of budgets • Intermediate level computer literacy in MS Office and any project management programme • Service delivery innovation • Management report-writing • Problem solving and analysis.
BASIC SALARY AND BENEFITS
The salaries quoted above do not include benefits. Iziko benefits comprise generous contributions towards a designated retirement fund (compulsory), a designated medical aid (voluntary) and a housing subsidy (voluntary). Other employment conditions such as working hours and leave entitlement are also generous.
