​SENIOR MANAGER: POLICY AND RESEARCH 

All-inclusive remuneration package: R1 344 441 per annum 
Ref: ITAC 16/2025 
 
Requirements: The applicant must be in possession of a bachelor’s degree in law, Economics or Business Management with five years’ experience in a research, law, and trade related area, preferably with some work in international trade. Knowledge of the international trade law, national policy framework (Trade Policy for Industrial Development and Employment Growth 2021 and the National Development Plan) and World Trade Organisation (WTO) agreements.
 
Key Responsibilities: The successful applicant will be required to: provide technical advice and input in multilateral and bi-lateral and regional trade negotiations in relation to ITAC’s trade instruments. Draft and review of the ITA Act and ensure alignment of legislation with government policies. Assist with the drafting of and review of the Amended Anti-Dumping, Countervailing Duty, Safeguard, Tariff Investigations and Import and Export Control Regulations and ensure alignment with government policies. Assist in the development and review policies, guidelines and procedures of ITAC’s tariff amendment, trade remedies and import and export control units. Provide research assistance (primarily on new trade developments, regulatory changes and case law) to units preparing investigations into key product markets for the Commission. Provide strategic direction for the unit. Contribute to financial management of ITAC and management of other resources. Participate in governance structures of ITAC.

​SENIOR INVESTIGATOR: TAFIFF INVESTIGATIONS II (METALS AND MACHINERY) 

Salary R582 444 per annum: (Ref: ITAC 17/2025) 
 
Requirements: Applicants must be in possession of a 3-year Bachelor’s degree majoring in Economics, Accounting and/ or Business Economics. One year experience as an investigator, economic/financial analyst or auditor and /or should demonstrate necessary relevant competencies developed through working experience. The candidate must have a reasonable understanding of the Industrial Policy Action Plan, relevant industry Masterplans and other trade and industrial policies. Proven analytical, research, problem-solving, report writing, project management and presentation skills. Applicants must be in possession of a valid driver’s licence for at least for two years. 
 
Key Responsibilities: The successful applicant will conduct investigations on applications pertaining to customs tariff amendments and rebates. Assess completeness and verify the validity of information contained in the applications. Prepare submissions and reports, which will be tabled to the Commission and the Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition. Conduct industry research, analyse and incorporate findings and recommendations in the submissions. Conduct verbal presentations to the Commission on findings pertaining to investigations. Process permits applications pertaining to various rebate and drawback provisions. Assist in other functions that the section is entrusted with.
