Job Advert Summary
The Capacity, Growth and Innovation unit within the Human Sciences Research Council seeks to secure the services of an experienced mentor programme facilitator to offer a series of three online workshops and one contact session to mentors and mentees. The workshop objective is to develop an effective mentoring programme.
 
The facilitator should have a proven track record in facilitating mentorship workshops, have an excellent command of the English language, possess the necessary qualifications, and have the necessary experience to engage with the (senior colleagues) mentors and mentees (junior Colleagues).
 
Minimum Requirements       
Key requirements:
  • A relevant PhD degree in the Social Sciences or the Humanities and have a track record of facilitating similar workshops.;
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in facilitating mentorship workshops;
  • 3 years (minimum) traceable references for similar assignments; the facilitator should furnish at least 3 letters of reference from institutions who can attest to the facilitator’s experience in similar assignments.
  • The facilitator must be able to offer the training during 2024 – February 2025.
 
Duties & Responsibilities
 
Key responsibilities:
The appointed service provider is expected to:
  • Work with HSRC mentors and mentees to develop an effective mentorship programme.
  • Demonstrate, through a detailed proposal, that he or she has the necessary skills, competencies, and experience to undertake this assignment.
  • Provide evidence of experience, e.g. one page report of similar projects   (please include details in CV).
  • Be familiar with and have an understanding of a research environment and be willing to tailor-make and customise the training programme to suit the HSRC.

  • In delivering 'social science that makes a difference' in South Africa and the region, the Research Programmes of the Human Sciences Research Council initiate and undertake policy-oriented research projects and programmes from its offices in Cape Town, Durban, Pietermaritzburg and Pretoria. Its public-purpose mandate is set out in the Human Sciences Research Council Act No.17 of 2008.
