INVITATION TO SERVE AS MEMBERS OF THE AUDIT AND RISK MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE OF HPCSA (x1 MEMBER)
REQUIREMENTS
THE ROLE OF THE AUDIT AND RISK MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE WILL BE TO:

INVITATION TO SERVE AS MEMBERS OF THE AUDIT AND RISK MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE OF HPCSA (x1 MEMBER)
REQUIREMENTS
- Must not be employed by or do business with the Council.
- Must have a relevant degree or equivalent (NQF L7) qualification and more than 15 years in senior management in any or combination of the following fields: Accounting, Financial Management, Auditing (Internal and External), Risk Management, Treasury, Insurance, Legal, compliance or Project management.
- The following membership or professional qualifications would be advantageous: CIA, CA (SA), ACCA, CFA, CISA, CISM, CIMA, RGA, IRMSA, etc.
- Experience in Public Sector processes, Corporate Governance frameworks e.g. King Code, International Standards of Auditing, Internal Auditing Standards, Risk Management Standards, IFRS and GAAP.
- Must be prepared to meet as often as required, but at least four (4) times a year, and must be flexible with regard to times.
THE ROLE OF THE AUDIT AND RISK MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE WILL BE TO:
- Perform duties in accordance with the approved HPCSA Audit Charter.
- Advise Council in terms of the applicable legislations.
- Review the adequacy and effectiveness of internal reporting processes that are in place.
- Ensure that effective and reliable financial management and financial reporting processes are in place.
- Maintain an effective and efficient system of internal and external audit.
- Examine and review the annual financial statements before final approval.
- Review the Governance monitoring.
- Continuously institute best practice in relation to corporate governance.
- Review compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
- Advise on Ethics and Integrity processes including fraud prevention strategies.
- Review any reports by the internal and external auditors and Management’s response thereto.
- Ensure that a combined assurance model is applied to provide a coordinated approach to all assurance activities, and
- Report to Council on the status of governance, risk management, compliance and internal controls within the HPCSA.
Term: The term of office is five (5) years (part-time basis - approximate number of meetings is six (6) per annum (four (4) ordinary and two (2) Special meetings). Successful candidates will be required to enter into a contract with the HPCSA.
