Support the Regional Fixed Plant commercial team with the implementation, maintenance and ongoing management of agreed supply and service agreements.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
  • Ensure implementation, management and maintenance of agreed to supply and service contracts as negotiated by the Regional Fixed Plant strategic sourcing team.
  • Assure alignment of regionally agreed contract terms with Global Framework Agreements as may be relevant to the broader Glencore Fixed Plant portfolio.
  • Assist the Copper operations team with the verification and implementation of contractual price increases as may be passed on from OEMs/suppliers.
  • Give input to tactical and strategic sourcing events as may be executed by the Regional Fixed Plant sourcing team.
  • Ensure compliance with agreed to contract terms, deliverables and KPIs.
  • Specific accountabilities 
  • Monitor contract register within the Regional Fixed Plant portfolio and ensure sourcing projects are executed timeously to replace expiring contracts.
  • Will assist and guide the assets/mines about pricing escalations and adjustments as and when submitted by the relevant supplier/s.
  • Will be responsible for the verifying of price escalation requests, the negotiating of the requests and the implementation of the approved requests.
  • Will review all rate increases, ensure these rates are uploaded timeously and distribute the rates to the relevant sites for record keeping.
  • Will be responsible for the review, verification, and implementation of requested contractual amendments and scope variations.
  • Will advise Regional Fixed Plant SME’s and Lead on any contractual misconduct or breach of agreed terms and conditions.
  • Will ensure effective cost recoupment from OEM’s and suppliers through verification/validation of labor & parts reconciliations, rebates, and discounts.
  • Ensuring compliance against contractual performance obligations and deliverables (KPIs).
  • Accountable for monitoring and reporting of the commodity spend history and analysis.
  • Understand market indices and movements as may be necessary to implement contractual price escalations.
  • Will ensure new contract terms and conditions as may be negotiated by the Regional Fixed Plant SMEs are aligned with Global Framework Agreements.
  • Sourcing, analysis and reporting of various contract, spend and market data.
  • Modelling of costs and scenario analysis.
  • Facilitate quarterly / annual Tier 1 Supplier contract reviews.
  • Development and maintaining of global and regional supplier KPI reports / dashboards.
  • Development of and managing of supplier database for Global and Regional suppliers.
  • Support the Regional Fixed Plant SMEs about the sourcing and procurement of ancillary and material handling equipment, parts and services that support the mining function.
  • Assist with ad-hoc unplanned mine site requests related to the Fixed Plant sourcing function.
  • Assist Regional Fixed Plant Lead and SMEs as may be required to meet short term site requirements.
  • Advise Regional Fixed Plant team regarding on-site contract requirements as may be relevant to mine sites.
  • Assist, consult, and execute on identified continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Determine root causes of problematic process areas and suggest improvements.
  • Shape unstructured and ambiguous contracts information into a structured format for communication and reporting.
  • Tracking, updating, and completing of PowerBI dashboards and reports.

This role will be based in Johannesburg, reporting to the Fixed Plant Pillar Lead. 

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Engineering / Business /Commerce/Finance / or Related discipline

WORK EXPERIENCE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • 3 – 5 years` experience in supply chain analysis / consulting / planning.
  • Relevant experience within a supply chain function.
  • Exposure to the engineering function as it relates to mining.
  • Knowledge or basic understanding of Robotics Process Automation (RPA).
  • Multi-tasking and excellent management of time and priorities is essential.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills that work effectively within team and different audiences.
  • Demonstrated, well-developed judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Pro- active, committed and highly motivated.
  • Independent, flexible, and entrepreneurial.

The incumbent in this role is responsible for assisting with the formulation and delivery of the Group Engineering Strategy. The successful candidate will also take responsibility for engineering issues related to Mobile Equipment as well as support the Complex and Operational Engineering Departments as and when required with strategic initiatives, projects and activities.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Establishing Group Engineering Standards, Procedures and Policies.
  • Developing and Implementing Mobile Equipment Strategies.
  • Co-ordination and management of large mobile fleet equipment replacement schedules and long-term procurement initiatives.
  • Management of business risk exposure in terms of equipment performance and critical spares management.
  • Coaching and supporting of engineering department at Operational Level.
  • Identifying and implementing business improvement opportunities.
  • Conducting and managing of project studies.
  • Liaising with Industry and academic intuitions.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Relevant degree in Engineering – B.Sc Eng / B.Eng – preferably Mechanical.
  • Government Certificate of Competency.
  • Registered as Pr. Eng or Pr. Cert Eng with ECSA.
  • An additional business or specialist Engineering qualification will be an added advantage.
 
Minimum Experience:
  • 10 Years’ experience as an appointed Engineer at Operational level of which at least 2 years in an Engineering Manager position.
  • Detailed knowledge of SAP or other Maintenance Management System.
  • Extensive knowledge of large open cut mobile equipment.

The incumbent in this role is responsible for the following components within the Regulatory Affairs Department - Mineral Rights, BBB-EE verification processes and the implementation of the SLP and Mining Charter targets throughout the implementation cycle which includes Governance, Strategy, Performance, Assurance and Improvement, and Communication.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Providing input into the BBB-EE verification processes to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and improvement of the level/rating.
  • Assisting with the compilation, submission, implementation and monitoring of the SLP and Mining Charter targets throughout the implementation cycle which includes Governance, Strategy, Performance, Assurance and Improvement, and communication.
  • Maintaining adequate administrative and record keeping systems.
  • Engaging with internal stakeholders and keeping up with external developments to ensure that internal processes keep up to ensure legislative compliance and security of tenure.
  • Ensuring compliance to all applicable legislated dates for submission and implementation.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Law Degree or equivalent.
  • BBB-EE Certificate will be an added advantage.
  • Driver’s license (Code EB/08).
 
Minimum Experience
  • 3 Years’ experience in the mining, government regulation, legal practice or consulting environment.
