Introduction
The Finance and Accounting Services Sector Education and Training Authority (Fasset) Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified and experienced professionals to serve as the Chairperson of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Steering Committee of FASSET. The Chairperson of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Steering Committee of FASSET reports to Audit & Risk Committee (ARC).
Please not that this is a not a permanent position. The ICT Steering Committee is required to meet at least once each calendar quarter. Additional meetings may be suggested and voted on by the members. Chairperson will attend meeting as required.

Objectives of Fasset
• To develop the competence of current employees and potential employees:
- Improving the quality of life of employees, their prospects of work and labour mobility.
- Improving productivity in the workplace and the competitiveness of employers.
- Promoting self-employment in situations where the sector is experiencing job shrinkage.
• To increase the levels of investment in education and training and to optimise the return on this investment.
Objectives of Fasset
• To position the Fasset sector as the "sector of career choice" for prospective learners and entrants into the labour market.
• To encourage employers and employees to adopt a culture of lifelong learning through:
- Using the workplace as an active learning environment
- Providing employees with the opportunities to acquire new skills
- Providing opportunities for new entrants and potential entrants into the sector labour market and enhancing access to opportunities to gain work experience.
• To support the objectives of the Employment Equity Act of 1998
• To enhance access to learning opportunities and to facilitate the recognition of prior learning
• To ensure the quality of education and training in the sector
• To expand the provision of education and training in this sector through sound partnerships with public and private sector service providers
• To encourage greater cooperation between the public and private sectors
• To co-operate with the South African Qualifications Authority and other Seta’s, in support of the objectives of the Act
Key responsibilities
The Chairperson will be expected to execute the following responsibilities:
• The chairperson will prepare an agenda, in advance, for each meeting of the ICT Steering Committee. Each voting member will be solicited for inclusions in that agenda.
• The chairperson will prepare reports of the ITSC meetings to the structures (Audit & Risk Committee) at FASSET.
• The appointment is for a period until 31 March 2020 but may be subject to renewal at the discretion of FASSET. The appointment will be supported terms of reference and a contract.
The following knowledge, experience and attributes are required for this position:
Knowledge and experience
• A post graduate qualification in Information Technology or related studies
• Strong ICT Governance experience.
• Candidates should demonstrate experience in serving committees, especially in the government sector
• The ability to dedicate time to the activities of the ICT Steering Committee
• A scientific background will be an added advantage
Skills
• Strong leadership and ICT skills
• Ability to strategize and solve problems
• Strong project management
• Ability to meet deadlines and work calmly under pressure
Personal attributes
• Well organised self-starter with ability to multi task
• Detail-oriented and ability to see the bigger picture to set clear direction and goals in line with organisational priorities/ goals

• Ability and willingness to function as a key contributor and tactical implementer
• Ability to recognize and be responsive to the needs of relevant stakeholders
Salary
The salary to be offered for this position is In accordance with the National Treasury Regulations 20.2.3.
Assessment
Applicants are expected to make a maximum of 3 hours available for the interview and assessment.
Shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo psychometric testing to confirm attitudinal and behavioural alignment to the position.
