THE ENTITY:
The entity is responsible for the management of nature conservation within the Province of KwaZulu-Natal including protected areas as well as the development and promotion of ecotourism and facilities within the protected areas. Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife wishes to appoint a suitable candidate for the position of Invasive Alien Species Programme Area Manager.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To ensure effective planning, implementation, management, monitoring and evaluation of the Invasive Alien Species within a region, whilst meeting both the objectives of Ezemvelo and the funder.
QUALIFICATIONS
• National Diploma in Natural Sciences (Conservation, Forestry or/Environmental Management)
• Degree in Natural Sciences (Conservation, Forestry or/Environmental Management) will be an added advantage
• Valid Code B Driver’s Licence
EXPERIENCE
• Minimum of 5 years invasive alien species programme management experience.
• Minimum of 3 years in management
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
• Implementation of invasive alien species monitoring, control and eradication plans for protected areas within the region
• Manage the implementation of Invasive Alien Species Programme
• Planning, composition of annual plans and planning of budgets
• Manage the provision of technical advice on operations, ensure regional compliance to all legislation (EPWP, OHS Act)
• Manage site inspections and liaise with relevant stakeholders
• Ensures arrangements are well coordinated as well as organize field visits or audits for internal and external stakeholders;
• Ensure correct protective clothing, equipment and herbicides are procured as per APO and deliver to contractors
• Perform all administrative and related functions

THE ENTITY:

Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife wishes to appoint a suitable candidate for the position of IASP Project Administrator.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To ensure effective and efficient financial management within the Invasive Alien Species Programme and compliance to the financial policies and procedures of the organisation and ensuring that other administrative requirements are met.
QUALIFICATIONS
• A Certificate in Financial Management or Business Administration or Public Management with a Finance Module (NQF 5)
• Three (3) Year Diploma (NQF 6) relevant qualification will be an added advantage
• Valid Code B Driver’s Licence
EXPERIENCE
• 3-5 years Invasive Alien Species Programme administrative experience.
• Experience in financial administration processes and procedures, ability to use SAP, compiling budgets and budget planning abilities are critical to this post.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Renders administrative support to the Invasive Alien Species Regional Programme, including providing support to the Field Team whilst ensuring compliance with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and EKZN Wildlife’s Policies and Procedures:
• Records / proof read broad minutes / decisions of meetings and communicate them to relevant stakeholders and follow-up on progress made with minimum supervision
• Organize logistical arrangements for meetings/workshops
• Ensures that travel arrangements are well coordinated as well as organize, field visits for internal and external stakeholders
• Oversee procurement for the manager and regional programme
• Prepare monthly reports
• Maintain Human Resource records
• Manage vehicle usage and administration
• Maintenance of electronic and manual filing systems
• General office management/maintenance
• Maintain asset register
Support the Regional Manager with the administration of the budget and donor funding allocated to the Regional Invasive Alien Species Programme:
• Collect and co-ordinate all the documents that relate to the Regions budget
• Prepare quarterly budget
• Keep record of expenditure commitments and monitor expenditure
• Check and correlate budget variance reports and commitments
• Monitor project budget and prepare financial reports for donors
• Liaise with Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife finance department
• Prepare all claims, invoices and payments for services procured by the Region
• Prepare and submit claims for payment of expenses
• Maintain petty cash or corporate cards

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To efficiently and effectively monitor the clearing of invasive alien species clearing operations in protect areas, including monitoring of budgets and maintaining relationships with stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS
• National Diploma in Natural Sciences (Conservation, Forestry, Environmental Management)
• Degree in Natural Sciences (Conservation, Forestry or/Environmental Management) is desired

EXPERIENCE
• 3 years invasive alien species programme management experience is mandatory
• 4 years relevant experience, working in a Big Five Game Reserve
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
• Facilitate and coordinate the development of invasive alien plants clearing plans within the district.
• Ensure work starts in-field according to APO schedule.
• Ensure in-field checks regarding densities and species of an area (as per APO) are done before generating a contract with the GIS Manager
• Facilitate the creation of work opportunities, training and development of beneficiaries within the district.
• Implement the training and social responsibility plans as per APO
• Ensure administration process flow is adhered to, reporting and related functions.
• Produce a monthly workplan
• Ensure that regular stock take is conducted, and strict control is enforced regarding issuing of items
• Provide ongoing in-field training of operating standards
• Conduct regular field visits to monitor the quality of the work and progress against planned APO’s and norms and standards
