Notice of Erratum: Vacancy - ETDP SETA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) - [Ref. 1930/34]
 
Please be advised that this notice serves as a correction to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) advertisement previously published in print media on January 18, 2026. This advertisement replaces the earlier version in its entirety. 

All prospective applicants who submitted applications in response to the previous advertisement are required to re-apply to be considered for the position, as the earlier advertisement has been withdrawn.  
 
Background of the ETDP SETA

The Education, Training and Development Practices Sector Education and Training Authority (ETDP SETA) is a public entity established in terms of the Skills Development Act (SDA), 97 of 1998, with the mandate to promote and facilitate skills development within the Education, Training and Development (ETD) sector. As part of the national skills development architecture, the ETDP SETA contributes directly to South Africa’s human capital development agenda and supports the realisation of the National Skills Development Plan (NSDP 2030).
The ETDP SETA oversees a diverse and complex sector that includes teachers, lecturers, education support staff, leadership and management across all ETD public and private sub- sectors trainers, assessors, moderators, practitioners, librarians, arts and culture’ professionals, political parties, trade unions as employers, non-governmental organisations, research organisations and community-based organisations, SETA employees, and other ETD professionals and workers including the unemployed people and persons with disabilities.
 
Five–year fixed-term contract appointment for the ETDP SETA CEO

Given the above critical background, the ETDP SETA Accounting Authority invites suitably qualified and ethical leaders to apply for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The CEO will provide strategic leadership and overall executive management to drive the ETDP SETA mandate in accordance with the National Skills Development Plan (NSDP 2030) and all relevant legislation governing public entities. The appointed candidate will enter into a performance agreement with the Accounting Authority.

ETDP SETA Chief Executive Officer
Contract Term: Fixed-term appointment until 31 March 2030
Remuneration: Director-General Salary Levels as per the Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA) Regulations
Reporting lines: ETDP SETA Accounting Authority, supervised by the Chairperson of the Accounting Authority
Location: Head Office in Gauteng Province (ETDP SETA also has Nine Provincial Offices)
 
Minimum Qualifications and Relevant Experience
Qualifications
A postgraduate qualification at NQF Level 8 in the fields of Education, Training & Development. A Master’s degree in Management and Governance, or Master’s degree in Business Leadership or Master’s degree in Public Administration would be an added advantage.  
 
Experience and Knowledge
Minimum 10 year’s experience in senior management, with at least five (5) years at Executive Management level.
Must meet the criteria on the appointment of a Director-General in accordance with the DG appointment framework. Demonstrated Knowledge and proven experience within the education sector, including familiarity with education and training policies, sector governance, institutional frameworks, stakeholder dynamics.
Knowledge and proven experience in sound financial management and accounting for a large organisation.
 
Key Responsibilities and Competences
The CEO will report to and account to the ETDP SETA Accounting Authority and execute all delegated functions in accordance with ETDP SETA policies and the Delegation of Authority. The CEO will be expected to, among others, drive and effectively implement the following responsibilities:
Governance & Compliance; Strategic and Change Leadership; Financial Management; Operational Excellence; Stakeholder Engagement; People & Culture; Technology advancement for innovative and agile service delivery; Sector Skills Planning, Strategic Planning, Annual performance planning and organisational operational planning and execution; Performance Monitoring, Execution, and Reporting; For detailed responsibilities, applicants must consult the ETDP SETA website.
