HEAD: TRADE, INVESTMENT AND INNOVATION (TII)
GRADE 21 (TCTC PACKAGE)
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Head; TII will be responsible for strategic innovation and advancing the EC Province’s trade, investment promotion and coordination.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Performance Areas will encompass:
a. Provide expert advice to SMME’s, clients and stakeholders through application of innovative solutions;
b. Supporting business units in new product and service initiatives, thus, acting as methodology expert and facilitator for the most critical innovation across the corporation (conducting prefeasibility studies, followed by actual feasibility studies, development of business plans, support Intellectual Property Certification);
c. Source funding through syndication efforts to leverage resources for new product development and diversification;
d. Promote and develop SMMEs and Eastern Cape Entrepreneurs for export readiness;
e. Market, promote and attract investments to the Province through Local Direct Investments
[LDI] and Foreign Direct Investments [FDI];
f. Provide expert and strategic input to the executive team and Provincial structures;
g. Manage the One Stop Shop activities of the Province;
h. Manage any subsidiaries attached to TII;
i. Secure strategic alliances and partnerships for leveraging and project implementation;
j. Ensure compliance with all public finance regulatory framework provisions.
The KPA’s also include identifying and establishing projects with meaningful impact, business fraternity, prospective entrepreneurs and making relevant decisions. While providing key strategic leadership of the business unit, the incumbent will be required to make presentations, submit reports to senior stakeholders in government and the private sector, partners, the shareholder as well as manage own departmental teams.
QUALIFICATIONS
a. Honours degree in Economics
b. An MBL/MBA/ Masters in Economics will be an added advantage;
c. 10 years’ experience of which 5 years should be at senior management position in a similar/related environment;
d. Exposure to and experience across all critical organisational business drivers;
e. Experience acquired from a Development Finance environment/IPA will be an added advantage.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
The successful candidate must possess the following;
Strong analytical skills and business acumen;
A sound record of decision making and judgement;
Excellent Communication and Presentation skills;
Ability to manage risk especially in projects and investments;
Strong networking skills high level communication ability
Ability to take initiative and attention to detail;
Ability to source and secure investments; and
High level of computer literacy and report writing skills.
