DEPUTY DIRECTOR: OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH
DEPARTMENT: Group Corporate and Shared Services
BRANCH: Group SHELA and FCM
DESIGNATION: Deputy Director: Occupational Health
REMUNERATION: R93 853,39 pm (basic salary, excluding benefits)
LOCATION: Metropolitan Centre, 158 Civic Boulevard, Braamfontein
Minimum Requirements:
• Medical qualification (M BBch) or equivalent medical qualification and registered with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA);
• Diploma in Occupational Health (DOH); and
• Certificate in HIV and AIDS Management will be an added advantage;
• 6 years in the working environment with exposure to all basic disciplines of occupational health;
• Must have thorough knowledge and at least 3 years’ experience in the management of a highly strategic department, budgetary control and management of staff.
Primary Function:
Ensure the provision of Occupational Health Services with aim of proactively preventing and protecting the employees of City of Johannesburg from Occupational hazards that may exist in the workplace.
Key Performance Areas:
• Ensure effective and efficient management of Occupational Health sub unit;
• Lead and manage the occupational health advisors and occupational nursing practitioners;
• Consult and actively provide medical inputs to key receivers regarding the substantive content and procedural interpretation on issues of complex nature in an uncertain environment with a high impact and risk to the organization;
• Perform occupational examination/assessments of employee’s;
• Ensure creation of a database and implementation of immunization programmes;
• Perform an appropriate occupational medical examination/assessment of employee’s;
• Perform an appropriate clinical assessment against the identified hazards and Occupational Risk and Exposure Profile (OREP);
• Ensure creation of a database and implementation of immunization programmes;
• Perform an appropriate occupational medical examination/ assessment of employee’s;
• Ensure medical examination/assessment of employees and interpret the medical finding’s;
• Perform medical evaluation/assessment in accordance with applicable medical protocol and medical ethical requirements and the application of medical knowledge, skills and techniques and interpret the findings of such evaluation/assessment.
