Minimum Qualifications:
  • N3 Engineering qualification and Millwright Trade Test Certificate
 
Minimum Experience:
  • 3 years’ experience as a Millwright gained in the water industry (water & sanitation)




Key Outputs:
Reporting to the Maintenance Foreman, the appointee will:
  • Maintain all mechanical and electrical plant, equipment and buildings
  • Perform routine and breakdown maintenance on various electrical equipment, plant or buildings to minimise outage time
  • Ensure that relevant defects and work requests are attended to promptly to minimise outage time
  • Discuss the stripping, repairing, assembling and maintenance of electrical / mechanical components with the Foreman to minimise outage time
  • Make sure all electrical plant and equipment is in safe condition before commencing any work on them
  • Report accidents/incidents
  • Provide advice and direction on daily operational duties
  • Monitor and ensure that health and safety procedures are adhered to
  • Carry out reasonable and lawful instructions as given by the line manager/supervisor within the ambit of the position taking into consideration competencies and operational requirements
 
Key Competencies:
  • General Operational and Maintenance experience in electrical and mechanical fields
  • Operation and maintenance of water purification and distribution equipment
  • Sound knowledge of single and 3 phase electrical motors
  • Sound knowledge in the operation and maintenance of HV motors and switchgear
  • Sound knowledge of pumps, motors and valves
  • Valid unendorsed drivers licence
  • MV Regulations
  • OHS Act
  • Computer literacy
