AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH COUNCIL (ARC)
The Agricultural Research Council (ARC) is a premier science institution that conducts research with partners, develops human capital and foster innovation in support of the agricultural sector. It provides diagnostic, laboratory, analytical, agricultural engineering services, post-harvest technology development, agrochemical evaluation, consultation and advisory services, food processing technology services as well as various surveys and training interventions. Through its wider network of research institutes and experimental farms, the ARC provides a strong scientific base and a broadly distributed technology transfer capacity to the entire agricultural industry in South Africa.
The ARC-Deciduous Fruit, Vines and Wine (ARC-Infruitec-Nietvoorbij) seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced and dynamic person to the following position at Stellenbosch.
SENIOR BUYER
Key Performance Areas:
Sourcing and evaluation of quotations not exceeding R1 million.
Administer Procurement of Goods, Services and works quotations.
Arrange and attend compulsory site meetings on Infrastructure Projects.
Review Specifications/ Terms of reference for goods and services.
Ensuring procurement is in line with procurement Plan.
Present quotations for the Institute’s Bid Evaluation and Adjudication.
Serve as the Secretary on Institutes Bid Committees.
Evaluation of supplier’s performance.
Prepare all required documents for the Institute, Central office and Auditors as required.
Ensuring compliance with all SCM and Finance prescripts.
Stores and warehouse administration.
Assist with issuing and receiving of stock (physical and on electronic system)
Weekly spot-checks, monthly stock counts and annual major year counts for closing of financial period.
Receiving deliveries, inspect if applicable and Dispatch to end user
Matching delivery and Invoice with Order and issue GRN and forward invoice pack for payment.
Follow-ups on open order and payments.
Submit monthly commitment reports.
Source new suppliers at institute level, manage the Institute’s database, and update existing Suppliers information in the database.
Requirements:
National Diploma/ B Degree in Supply Chain Management/ Procurement/ Logistics/ Purchasing/ Cost Accounting/ Public Administration or related field. NQF Level 6, Sourcing, Logistics, or Purchasing Management, or related field.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Supply Chain Management (Demand and Acquisition).
Knowledge and understanding of the PFMA and related policies and regulations.
